Afternoon bump
Kayden McDonald might be their pick if everyone else is gone and they can't trade down at 31 as well. At 63 they might trade up to snag an edge if they didn't get an edge at 31. If they go WR here: Stribling. OL could be a guard (might trade up too): Pregnon, Bisontis, Rutledge.
Here is what I think the Pats do at 31: If one of the OTs is there, that guy. If the OT isn't there then they go edge: Zion Young, R Mason Thomas, Keldric Faulk, Malachi Lawrence, Gabe Jacas. Some of those guys they might like in round 2. If not edge then KC Concepcion or EMW (Safety Toledo).
Big Board is done. Now onto superlatives.
Matt knows me but I don't blame him at all if he doesn't remember my name. John Limberakis. Just a little fish :). But we have gone back more than a decade now. Had the OG on for a Sons of Sam Horn board chat back in the day. Been a long time RSP subscriber.
Both scales (Hatman and Waldman) I think translate SOOOO much better than "1st round grade". I wonder how much of this is because he broke out late. At TE 1) not sure that matters, and 2) traits are good now so... I don't care as much. Production at TE can be overrated in the draft.
Actually, let me riff a little on Matt Waldman and Dan Hatman. If you look at how Waldman does his evals the way he grades his guys is similar to Dan. Similar approach imo to scouting with depth and breadth of scouting with Hatman's what can they do and what is their role.
Yeah not gonna lie when I finished my eval on him I was googling what I was missing. Looked at my brand new RSP, my beast guide, and remembered @mattstjean.bsky.social mentioned Nate Tice liked him a lot too. 3 people I respect a lot and all 3 do this very differently.
Reminds me of Chandler Zavala. The tape suggests a round 3-4 kind of range and the lack of combine invite is strange. There seems to always be a handful of guys who get snubbed but are legit prospects. Zavala was a guard.
I don’t give draft round grades myself, just pattern matching.
I don't understand Carsen Ryan - specifically how the hell was he a combine snub? I wanted to try and speed run through his tape but ended up so enamored I watched 4 games. I would take him round 3 or 4 sometime. Looks like a significant contributor and/or scheme-specific starter. Binkie status...
Margaret Atwood. Sadly evergreen.
I stopped after about 140 written reports. I am just going to do grades and write if the guy is a fit for the Pats and the Eagles.
Still watching the tape but - it takes too long to do a formal report and I need to finish about 40 more prospects. Going to top out at around 205 this year.
Treydan Stukes, Arizona, CB/S/Nickel, #2 shows us what those pythons are capable of in coverage. I wish he weren't 25 but I would take him on day 2 easy. He is such a versatile nickel safety option who can even chip in on the outside if need be.
Keylan Rutledge absolutely didn’t come out of nowhere… it’s just that people didn’t watch his tape until later on.
Chris Johnson, CB, San Diego State, #1, first game I watch, vs Cal, and this is off to a good start... (~97 yard pick-6)
talking about consensus boards!!!!
My favorite receiver in this draft is KCC. He reminds me a lot of JSN. If I had to pick one guy to bet on being the best WR in this class, it's him.
Bottom of the screen, 3, Jermod McCoy has the kind of size/speed/intelligence and ball skills that you covet in a dominant versatile corner. Sure he will likely be outside the majority of the time but he can play anywhere, anytime, against anyone.
He really is part wrestler/brawler.
No idea why it is freezing up. Not intentional on my part. Didn't even know I could do that.
Have a feeling @natetice.bsky.social would appreciate this rep from Jermod McCoy (Tennessee CB, #3).
(It's John L - Greek Last Name but incognito :) ). I am about a week away from finishing mine - is that ok? I think you take them for a bit, right?
#0 Alabama ILB Deontae Lawson - processes this quickly and gets around traffic - he's a fluid + mover. Good athlete.
Seriously though, he screams Seahawk... he's a freak athlete, he is amazing in zone coverage (coverage in general), leader, plays tough, he is versatile, he can do so many roles... he's smart too.
Minter would also be able to use him well.
Kyle Louis (ILB Pittsburgh) needs to be a Seahawk. If I have to pick a team and a match, it's that. Ravens would work too. Houston even. Just... give him to a talented DC or HC because this guy has the bells and whistles in an ILB that let him make premium plays (sacks, Ints, TFLs).
Love the angle he takes and the closing speed... and the fire and passion too.
He's got such power and a sturdy base for taking on OL - and he's young.
That's against Connor Lew, who I think will be a starting NFL center by the end of his rookie deal.
