Let’s be clear about what’s happening here.
President Trump launched an unauthorized war against Iran. Gulf countries are now under attack and desperate for protection. And Trump’s sons just signed a deal with a drone company actively trying to sell weapons to those countries.
Years of deforestation have severely impacted Comoros, leading to drying rivers & eroded soils.
A UNEP & @thegef.bsky.social restoration project is reversing this trend by improving water access, farmland productivity, and community resilience to climate change.

Why treat a symptom without addressing the cause?
Just like in health, making a difference for the environment requires a holistic approach. The GEF is taking an integrated approach by tackling environmental drivers across sectors & borders.

Lovely Easter egg gift from sister @traceyehm.bsky.social #Easter
It seems CBC Radio’s The Current has discovered Pink Floyd and “Dark Side of the Moon” — as usual they do not let the tune play out but cut it off with an ad.
Over the past 2 months I’ve knit and crocheted 20 red toques and one teddy in support of the Melt the Ice campaign started by small MPLS shop Needle & Skein. I sent 16 as gifts to friends in the U.S. & Canada. The shop sez it raised over $850,000 from patterns & donations #melttheIce #needleandskein

The crocheted hat from a pattern by Nicki Trench
I'm knitting and crocheting "official" and unofficial Melt the ICE hats for friends in U.S. Red hats with tassels worn as emblems of resistance were banished by the Nazis in Norway in WWII. This exercise of promoting Melania through a documentary no one wants to see reminds me of Kane’s wife in Citizen Kane”. He forces her to keep performing in operas even though she is humiliated because she’s terrible. Kane’s power and influence keeps it going. #melania
Indeed it is beautiful out there
Haha. Spent a couple of hours shovelling and now it’s time to do more. I no longer have cross country skis (or skates) but we have our childhood wooden toboggan and sleds!
Looks like quite a hike!
Grasshopper cocktail
Plastic lit up snowman
We celebrated last night with grasshoppers made by @traceyehm.bsky.social in spite of the LCBO making crème de menthe a rarity
You mean the entrance is across from the taxi rank? Yes that would be a cheap fix but perhaps there is a sign and I’m just always on autopilot heading for a cab.
And I usually rent or borrow a bike once downtown while there so I don’t use the LRT
That’s cool. I had no idea! Whenever I go to Ottawa I cab it from the station. I have not noticed a sign for the LRT there!
It would be ridiculous. The current station is great, but just not as good or convenient as the old one downtown. Washington D.C. restored its old Union Station adding shops etc., but the tracks were still there so it was a different
What about connecting them via skytrain?
Agreed. I’m avoiding the entire country
