Only my lovely (& bonkers) colleague and friend Cheryl could have given me this present: a bottle of 'Prince of Ales' beer brewed to celebrate the marriage of Prince Charles to Diana Spencer on 29 July 1981.

Lovely bit of 1990 indie pop that.
That series 2 lineup of 5’s reality tv show The Farm in full
“You can!”
“I Carrrrrrn’t!”
I think that was their second go at it. The initial ad with Hartman went out in 1993, but was banned after complaints to the ITC that it caused epileptic fits.

…I’ll have you know I’ve just started my SEVENTH Hansi album of the day. I may need intervention.
Don’t make me play “In The Mood For Trumpets”.
Please.
She performed Touch Me (All Night Long).
You can see Icke briefly at the beginning in this ‘enhanced’ clip.

A screengrab of Sally Harrison, who acted as one of the protagonist’s love interests in Confessions Of A Pop Performer, appearing as an In Vision Continuity Announcer for TVS. Sally is wearing a smashing red and black jumper.
My favourite Confessions film. Packed to the rafters with comic actors. And amazingly there are two actors in it that also plied their trade as In Vision Continuity announcers at various points - David Hamilton and…
To celebrate the news of Paul McCartney's latest album, I give you Sandie Shaw's rather lovely a cappella version of Junk, which ends with the desolate sound of a gurgling sink/flushing toilet.

The lead track’s obviously great, but this track (#3 on CD1 and #2 on the 12 inch) is one of my favourite things ever. Never been able to track down who says “Morning Lemon” at the start.

Ah, those two hard to find beers:
Guinness and Carlsberg. And reducing costs with only a dozen or so taprooms, how exactly?
I’m sure the remaining Brewdog staff are taking lots of reassurance from this interview.
20K+ crowd due at The Valley on Saturday, so atmosphere should be good; we’re inconsistent but should be a very competitive game against Norwich if we turn up. Plus, you can always visit the award-winning @thegreengoddesspub.bsky.social before or after - the ground is very walkable from there.
Kenny’s 1983 LP “Half The Day’s Gone And We Haven’t Earn’ed A Penny” has a banger of a title track, plus a few songs written by the guys behind Star Turn On 45 Pints, another, “Average Man”, written by far right supporting former British tennis player Buster Mottram, and an amazing cover photo.
What in the name of sanity is going on with the rivers?!
A Bar at the Folies-Bergère – Édouard Manet There’s a couple of bottles with the distinctive red triangle of the Bass brewery
If you look closely at A Bar at the Folies-Bergère by Édouard Manet, the bar did absinthe and bottles of Bass Bitter.
The one time I was in Minehead a few years ago, I walked from the Premier Inn along the front into town and found this. I’d like to think there was some sort of context alongside it that I’ve long since forgotten… but I’m not sure there was. I got the next bus back to Taunton.
That was the best, most dramatic game of Rugby I have ever seen. It was insane.

Started working my way through the copy of The Times 'Beer in Britain's Supplement from April 1958. Here are a few more images, that I've selected, which might be of interest to some. Taxes, barley, hops and the local pub 🙂🍻
Enjoyed, if that’s the right word, the financial coverage in this issue. Felt the tone was just right on Goodness going bad. The amount owed to HMRC is huge for a small brewery. Money owed to staff, yet the newco owned by 2 of the oldco directors will buy its kit & stock at a very heavy discount.
I’ve watched the occasional GH episode but not seen any of Tucker’s Luck myself, I’m not even sure I caught any of it on original tx (I was probably a few years younger than their intended audience).
Half tempted to watch a Grandad though for old times sake.
What a rancid year this is turning out to be for Scottish breweries.
That leftover ball at the end is absolute confectionary filth of the third degree. Really not surprising at all that he’s got Meta glasses.
“Hi! I am Swan by Naomi Campbell.”
The previous name of this company was Sharethejam Ltd. Clearly trying to hoover up some of the remaining Network goodwill. No thank you.
