But behind the images, the pontificate of Jorge Bergoglio was built on something quieter — “starting processes” as he would say, a strategy aimed not at immediate results, but at shaping the future of the Catholic Church long after his death.
For Leo, subsidiarity goes hand in hand with synodality: Making and taking decisions requires listening to and involving those closest to the action.
no matter when you join us, be it this first session or many sessions down the road. We will begin with the framework of Centering Prayer, but will explore other ways to practice letting go to help everyone find a contemplative prayer method that works best for them.
We will be gathering to both explore the facets of contemplative prayer and sit in silence with each other in that practice. This will be ongoing and is intended to be very beginner-friendly,

The United States House, in a bipartisan effort that highlighted Republican division over the Trump administration’s immigration policies, passed a bill Thursday (April 16) to allow Haitian migrants temporary legal protections to live in the U.S. for three years.
The Holy Father warned us that rejecting the logic of war may lead to scorn. This week we witnessed our U.S. president deride the pope for speaking to Gospel values. But we remain firm that the resurrection we profess calls us to be people of life.

Can the administration’s rhetoric, tactics, and goals be squared with Catholic teachings? Can the Church’s tradition help us find a way out of current conflicts? Several leaders helped us explore these questions and others.

—Carmen Acevedo Butcher
As a result, she says, many women experience "a serious, deep spiritual wound because there are systems and processes and beliefs and practices in place where women feel constrained in honoring their gifts and charisms and callings to be a part of the people of God."
She too acknowledged that "there is so much to be done but we are on the right path."
For Manns "the biggest obstacle is that still we have an unwillingness to admit the fact, the truth that women's baptism is not inferior to men's baptism and that women image Christ in their baptism."
While inspired by Francis' legacy of appointing women to leadership in the Vatican, Wakahiu also lamented the "many cultural barriers that prevent women from advancing in those positions ... not just at the vertical level, but sometimes in the local diocese." buff.ly/rMX8zh2

After mass, we gathered for a regular multiplication of the loaves and fishes in our snack area and to share with each other as Jesus shared conversation with the disciples. If you were not able to join us, know that you were prayed for and that we look forward to a time when you can be with us.
