Gerrymandering. Period.

Liberals easily have their majority....
but notice the drop in the CPC vote in all 3 seats compared to 2025.
Also notice the rise in the NDP vote in the TO seats. Very rare for the NDP to do well in by-elections where they don't have a chance of winning.
lol....Terrebonne is a one vote margin again
Polls closed in the 3 by-elections, Liberals need to win only 1 for a majority.

it's...not even the most well-known Surrey in the world?
meanwhile in Hungary, Orban gets decisively trounced.
Christine Fréchette wins the CAQ leadership race with 57% of the vote over Bernard Drainville.
ANOTHER Conservative MP has crossed the floor to the Liberals. Marilyn Gladu, who represents Sarnia. This...is an interesting one.
I make a real effort to not stray into hyperbole when I write about Alberta politics, but I don’t believe it is an exaggeration to describe the minority report as gerrymandering.

K but I have a question - Green Party??
I grew up in the capital of the only bilingual province. I can assure you it's bad here too.
If NDP is serious about reining in big tech, they should be making more use of decentralized platforms. I’d wager a non-trivial amount of their voters are on Bluesky exclusively. 🙋♀️
Look I appreciate that this family has a long history in Canadian progressive politics but to me they'll always be the Lewises of "Jenny Lewis, casting director for Heated Rivalry" fame.
NDP leadership results:
Avi Lewis 39734 (56.0%)
Heather McPherson 20899 (29.5%)
Tanille Johnston 5159 (7.3%)
Rob Ashton 4193 (5.9%)
Tony McQuail 945 (1.3%)
Federal - NDP MP for Nunavut, Lori Idlout, has crossed the floor to the Liberals
🚨BREAKING: Carney calls byelections in two Toronto ridings and Terrebonne. Voters will head to the polls on April 13.
Liberals will need to win all three races to get a thin majority government. #cdnpoli #canpoli

Wild stat I found:
9 referendums (plus 10 for separation) means that on one October day, Alberta will have more ballot measures than in all 121 Alberta years before that. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Supreme Court nullifes the 1-vote Liberal win in Terrebonne: www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
This will force a by-election, if the general election isn't called first of course.
the last time I was in Vancouver, I stayed at the Best Western at the end of Davie and relied on transit. It....was an ordeal.
The Alberta Party has renamed itself the Progressive Tory Party. Their previous attempts to rename as the Progressive Conservative Party were blocked in the courts by the UCP, which then amended Alberta’s election laws to block any other party from using the word “conservative” in their name.
One year from now, if we’re in the leadup to a Quebec independence referendum, this news today of minimal interest outside Quebec might wind up being a consequential development in Canadian history.
Poll maps for the 2025 federal election are now up on election-atlas.ca/fed !
"Conservative Alberta MP Matt Jeneroux announced Thursday he is resigning from the House of Commons, according to statement shared with CBC News, a decision that comes after rumours swirled this week that he was considering crossing the floor to the Liberals."
...and there goes my weekend.
Dimitri Soudas, former Harper comms guy, told RadCan this morning that he's hearing Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux will cross the floor to the Liberals today.
If this happens, the Liberals are one seat short of a majority. You know what that means.
That's right.
Elizabeth May is Kingmaker.
