This morning I’m writing a short article on the cost of #AUKUS nuclear waste storage and disposal. My office is set up a stone’s throw from the Gloucester River, inside the Barrington Tops National Park, Mid North Coast, NSW. #FOI #WorkFromRoam

#InterestingQuestion. Assuming a petition was made by someone with standing, could the SA Court of Disputed Returns (SA Supreme Court) declare the SA Election invalid on the basis of the High Court’s decision in Hopper v Victoria? #saparli #auspol

AUKUS submarine budget blows out by one third The bill for building nuclear-powered submarines over the next decade could be as high as $96 billion, according to updated figures published by the Defence Department today.

The only thing worse than a Defence project blowing out by billions of dollars is a Defence project that will never deliver the intended capability blowing out by billions of dollars. #AUKUS #auspol

👇Sunlight lifts fog off the floor of the Barrington Tops👇.

Today in the Administrative Review Tribunal I’ll be trying to use #FOI sunlight to lift Govt generated fog. Regular citizens get tried in open courts while public servants get tried in secrecy. Why? #Pezzullo #auspol

It’s great to see that our Constitution (and the High Court) protects citizen (in this case Victorian citizens) from the duopoly in the (Victorian) Parliament tilting electoral laws in their favour. #auspol #democracy #independents💪

Rex Patrick - Fuel Gouging (13/04/26) - Tim Webster for Breakfast Former Senator Rex Patrick returns to the program as we have been following the fuel crisis since January. In recent weeks it has pushed the ACCC to crack down on fuel price gouging.

This morning on 2SM I discussed fuel price gouging and the deceit engaged in by the Govt, telling everyone the ACCC was onto it. Price gouging is not illegal in Australia - there’s nothing the ACCC can do unless collusion is happening. #auspol

With a 2023 #FOI access refusal under legal challenge, taxpayer funded lawyers are now releasing more & more info on #AUKUS nuclear waste plans. Ironically, one thing the Govt’s been keeping from the public is their keenness to gain a social licence from the same public 🤦‍♂️. #auspol

Fuel price gouging. War profiteering and government dissembling - Michael West Greedy fuel companies are taking advantage of war, while politicians tell us they’re going to deal with greedy fuel companies, but don't.

When the Iran war started and fuel prices went up, Labor ministers were telling the Parliament and public that the ACCC was cracking down on fuel price gouging. But the ACCC wasn’t, because it couldn’t. The Govt knew it, but were engaging in deceit. #auspol

An appropriate poleaxing of the Australian Public Service Commission by the ever perceptive Jack Waterford in the Canberra Times today. The Commission is supposed to be the champion of Public Service integrity and professionalism, but underwhelms in that role. 1/2 #auspol

It also lays bare a profound injustice: Australia jailed David McBride, a whistleblower who helped bring Australia's misconduct in Afghanistan to light. The whistleblower was the first person prosecuted and subsequently jailed while there’s been no consequence for the war crime perpetrators. 3/3

Ben Robert-Smith’s arrest over alleged war crimes reminds us that accountability so often depends on whistleblowers. Without them serious crime or wrongdoing that takes place in the purported exercise of Govt business can pass without public knowledge and therefore an ability to demand sanction. 2/3

Mike Pezzullo, Mr Briggs, and their conflict of interests - Michael West Mike Pezzullo's desire for influence may have led to him not declare conflict of interest between himself and Libs 'power broker' Scott Briggs

Mr Pezzullo was scratching Mr Briggs' back (with info) while Briggs was scratching Pezzullo's back (with influence). Yet Pezzullo didn't declare a conflict-of-interest when Home Affairs was considering a contract it gave to Briggs🤦‍♂️. #breach #auspol

We cannot celebrate tinkering when it comes to gambling reform. Labor’s response falls tragically short | David Pocock What the Albanese government is proposing is not evidence-based, and it will not reverse the normalisation of gambling among young people

The only explanation for @albomp.bsky.social not dealing properly with the harm gambling advertising does (including, and especially to children) is that he’s hostage to vested interests. He lacks the courage and leadership to stop this trade in misery. #auspol
