Oh HELL no.
With low snowpack, our hydro is becoming less reliable. Behind-the-meter power nearly always means gas. And for what? The suicide advice/porn-making/job-killing machine?
Just: no.

Went to some delightful events, did some venue doodling.
Switching fully over to @bookshop.org was both very easy and very pleasing. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Project in a nutshell: it's a children's activity book; it's about bicycles; it's chock full of history, art and science; and I am doing all the writing, illustrations and page layouts.
Seattle folks! I am making a book, and I was chosen by @spl.org for their Writer's Room Residency this past year.
On Sun Jan. 11, I'm reading at the Central Library. Event details below. Join us!
Hat tip to @microcosm.bsky.social for all their support.

Ha ha ha, the priceless moment in which I realize that my Top 5 list only has 4 items on it. 😄 Clearly I am just THAT fussy about my fonts ...
This past year, the default font for MS Word changed to some font that I did not like one bit. I therefore took it upon myself to use the vehicle of my daily work to-do list to try out ALL of the fonts that come standard with word. Many months later, I have my top five list! 🏆
Dude. Next time you are in Seattle, you really need to check out Leon Coffee House in the U District. (It's on the same block as the Neptune Theater.) Their latte art is BONKERS GOOD. (As are their tamales ans their churro waffles and and and...)
Notebooks (of overed with stickers) next to the corner of a cornhusk-wrapped tamal and a cup of cocoa featuring an artistically awesome bear face drawn in the foam
Creative strategy time, as assisted by tamales and hot cocoa
Large yellow maple leaf, taking up half the width of a blue-green picnic table
Big leaf maples are not messing around.

Low-key parenting milestone: teaching the kid how to put a bicycle on the bus rack.
I like it when Seattle coffee shops play Jimi Hendrix. (Feels like it doesn't happen nearly as often as one would expect.)

Please enjoy this pileated woodpecker, who is proud to be flinging bark chips everywhere in search of buggos.

Busy summer of doing things: feels good to finally step back into my old routine of writing and drawing at the library again.
always bears repeating & boosting: in this environment, doing things slowly and well is a form of resistance
Do you like the idea of mining, logging, and drilling in National Parks? Then you'll LOVE the latest executive order opening our ocean parks to commercial fishing.

Ugh, my little world is topsy-turvy enough at this moment that I am not even tracking March Mammal Madness this year. //facepalm// Keep up the learning and winning, my friends! Next year I hope to cheer along with y'all!
Mug of hot cocoa with an Wall-E style robot, featuring big sad and anxious eyes, drawn in the foam. Big slice of chocolate cake in the background, because yeah.
Yep. I feel ya, little cup of cocoa.
