My cold started the evening before election day. I have been processing the outcome through an emotional haze ever since. I am afraid. I am angry. I am terrified that my daughters will need the same masks I wear to survive around the willfully ignorant. Project 2025 will end the American experiment.

Another vCISO kickoff meeting down. I think it went well, but I also know that it could have gone better. Information security is a bottomless well and a wide river all at the same time, and most of us are splashing in the shallows hoping we don't get snagged and swept out into the deep unprepared.

Learned how to put something together in OpenSCAD, iterated on it once because I had made an assumption about a measurement, and was able to 3D print a replacement part to fix the snapped locking mechanism on the water bottles my kids use. 3D printer purchase validated!

A few places import them so Nürnberger Lebkuchen can definitely be had stateside. My family exchange-gifted them for a few years "Sorry for the calories" style. They even make a tin-less version for folks that have enough decorative containers laying around.

By the grace of stacking discounts, trading in a first gen Alexa, and some loose credits I now have a Kindle Scribe. So far my first impressions are strong, tempered by the understanding that I paid less than $100 out of pocket. Not sure how I'd feel scribbling my weird doodles on a $350 book.

An incredibly cheap 3D printer is going to be delivered later today. What are some things I could print that would immediately validate this silly purchase to my family?

A thing I have learned about myself is that I'm a dabbler. I'm convinced that given time + motivation I can be decent at almost anything. Luckily I am also very lazy so I'm not swimming in unlearned musical instruments and thousands of uncompleted projects. Only dozens. Chasing the next distraction.

The urge to just lurk is strong! Darn my introvert tendencies. I told myself that this time would be different. Can I change myself? Maybe if I post something, anything. Ooh, maybe something introspective about how I struggle to consider my input worthwhile! I should edit to make this feel less sad.

Does the feed sometimes glitch out a bit for anyone else? Today I used my mouse to drag the up/down scroll bar all the way to the bottom, let go, and then it just kept scrolling. I let it keep loading posts for about a minute or two. More fun than the random jittery thing that happens!
