GS4P will continue to bring attention to the war crimes in Palestine and push the ISA to comply with the principles of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS). With your help we can achieve the continuation of the ISS's suspension until it joins our efforts for Palestine's liberation! [8/8]

(2) Reach out to your national association and communicate strongly how important it is for them to vote in favor of the suspension [contact info for associations: www.isa-sociology.org/en/national-... - send them the link to the above document so they know what's at stake! [7/8]
Global Sociologists for Palestine: here's how you can help us (1) Send an email to ISA (isa@isa-sociology.org, cecilia-delgado@isa-sociology.org, geoffrey.pleyers@uclouvain.be, Bandana.Purkayastha@uconn.edu) and firmly express your support for the upholding of the suspension at the meeting [6/8]
Here's our call to all national sociological associations which will cast their votes in India -- please share widely: drive.proton.me/urls/GZA9T23... [5/8]
A vote for upholding of the suspension of ISS will also resonate with the overwhelming support in the world for the end of war crimes and apartheid in Palestine. It will also encourage other academic and professional associations to take a similar stance [4/8]
GS4P strongly believes that upholding the suspension is critical: it will reaffirm that international academic associations cannot remain complicit in war crimes. ISS should be held accountable for its institutional silence and complicity in the genocide to date [3/8]
ISA's Council of National Associations Conference will take place on December 17-20 in India (www.isa-sociology.org/en/conferenc...) At the meeting national sociological associations that are regular members of ISA will vote on the status of the Israeli Sociological Society (ISS)'s suspension [2/8]
Calling all Global Sociologists for Palestine - Collective Action Time!! We Need Your Help! [thread - 1/8]
We therefore encourage ISA to continue on this path, ensuring that it becomes an even stronger home for critical and committed scholarship, where solidarity is not abstract but lived through the Association’s institutional choices.
We believe that ISA’s decision was not only historic but also necessary to affirm its credibility as a truly global intellectual community. By upholding the call for accountability, ISA has shown that it takes seriously its responsibility to stand against colonial violence, apartheid, and genocide.
All these signatures serve as a testament to the depth of support among sociologists worldwide for principled action against academic complicity in structures of oppression.
Our statement in support of ISA's suspension of the Israeli Sociological Society has reached more than 500 signatures. If you are a sociologists and have not signed the statement already, here it is: drive.proton.me/urls/PJD48WW...
Instead of objecting to the ISS’s suspension, we expect DGS to be concerned about Germany’s full support of Israeli brutality and say something against this shameless German complicity in the greatest genocide of the 21st century.
As we express in the statement, what has @dgsoziologie.bsky.social done when pro-Palestinian action on universities campuses was met with unusual police brutality; scholars, including Jewish scholars, have been disinvited; artists and writers had their funding terminated?
Here's our latest statement on the German Sociological Association's (@dgsoziologie.bsky.social) objection to the suspension of Israeli Sociological Society’s (ISS) membership in the International Sociological Association (ISA) drive.proton.me/urls/WCCB71P...
[5/5] Against their mischaracterizations, which only serve for the continuation of the genocide and settler colonialism, please support our petition (above) and other efforts such as this one:

[4/5] ... by taking a stance against the most powerful and effective efforts to stop the genocide in Palestine. In our view, they are simply fooling themselves (but not others) by claiming that they are promoting "open dialogue" or "constructive engagement" when they criticize ISS's suspension.
[3/5] Finally, we are saddened to see that following the German Sociological Association, Austrian Sociological Association, the Sociological Association of Ukraine, and some of the board members of the ISA-RC28 have, too, chosen to join the "hall of shame" ...
[2/5] Also, if you have not already, please add your name to our petition in support of ISA's suspension of the Israeli Sociological Society. Your support is crucial to pressure National Sociological Associations in ISA for the continuation of the suspension. docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
[1/5] Please take a look at our most recent statement on the successful BDS mobilization at the 5th International Sociological Association (ISA) Forum of Sociology in Rabat earlier this month:

[5/5] That's why we’d love to invite you to one of the universities in Gaza to engage in scientific cooperation on equal footing. Just be careful not to trip over the rubble—that whole 'equal footing' thing can get tricky.
[4/5] You know what, scratch that. Maybe you're right when you mention in your brilliant statement (7.7.25) "the principle of scientific cooperation on equal footing"
[3/5] @isa-sociology.org did the right thing with suspending Israeli Sociological Society because ISS is 60+ thousand deaths too late to "share the deep concern and anguish over" etc etc. You can't simply condemn your way out of a genocide
[2/5] The bottom line is: Call a war crime by its name when you see it. Genocide is not a difficult word to utter if you are honest about stopping it
[1/5] Hey there @dgsoziologie.bsky.social, have you seen this? Happy to provide a German translation, if you'd like www.nytimes.com/2025/07/15/o...
