Twitter got rid of dark mode, so I’m back here. What did I miss?

I will give them credit for going back to DS9 though. DS9 did not benefit enough from the callback era (the random changelings in PIC s3 do not count)
There’s literally no pleasing the internet, but I do have callback fatigue between Lower Decks, the later seasons of SNW, and Picard S3. I feel like this instinct is not good for writing a new story.
I don’t really like criticizing new Trek because it attracts a lot of conservative dudebros who don’t want to see anything new. Hopefully they won’t find me on bsky
I agree it would be tough to do anything else with his character, but that kinda goes back to my original point about pulling focus from the current setting by digging up old stuff. I think this episode landed on the right side of focusing on our new characters, but just barely.
I guess, but I still think it’s a weaker ending for the character than what they wrote in 1999. Not trying to bash anybody or say they “don’t understand Trek”, because they clearly do, I just wasn’t a fan of that choice.
I feel like they wrote that to maintain some of the ambiguity, but it didn’t work for me. Feels exactly like what you would say about a character who’s dead

I also didn’t like that they went back and confirmed that Jake and Kasidy never saw Ben again! The open ending of DS9 was important — partly because Avery Brooks fought to avoid the implication that a Black father would abandon his family.
That said, I really like the show so far!! The characters are great, and it’s really fun to see Trek’s take on a coming of age story.
My biggest issue with Starfleet Academy is that it lacks confidence in its setting. Feels like half the cast is 1,000 years old, just so we can do more callbacks to the previous series.
Dr Robby when someone comes into the ER with a crushed skull from riding a motorcycle without a helmet
Also the conservative nerd outrage over this show is so funny. I really want to say “woke trek is back” but nothing particularly woke has happened.
Two episodes in, I’m cautiously optimistic about Starfleet Academy, but Holly Hunter is SO fucking good in this.
I’m taking credit for GameCube in NSO and Mario Odyssey 2 (it ended up being called DK Bananza)
i hate my good friend carrie bradshaw SO much. every time something embarrassing happens to me, she puts every detail of it including my full name and where i live in the newspaper for some reason
All those hot dogs uneaten 😔
TNG scene. Data, on ship, is standing in uniform with his head slightly cocked, like that thing a dog does if you say ball or walk or treat. Closed caption reads, "You mentioned your impending death, Grandpa."

Switch 2 Direct predictions (I’m always wrong, so this will be fun)

Moderate: Teaser for Pokemon gen 10
Stretch: GameCube and DS added to online library
Crazy: Switch 2 VR

Is everyone going to Star Trek Las Vegas this year?
Severance season 2
Let me know what you think! I liked the characters and I thought it started really strong
And if I say I liked the Section 31 movie, what then?
OK time for predictions:
- Dead: Faith, Wood
- Alive: Entire main cast including Spike (long shot) and Giles (probably overdue tbh)
- The First is sealed away but not fully defeated
- Willow does scary magic, but keeps a lid on her dark side
- Kristine Sutherland cameo
S7E21 “End of Days” - I have negative things to say on this ep, but first: I’ve loved getting to know this show. I can see why it means so much to so many people.
Ok, to be negative:
- So the Guardian doesn’t help at all and then she dies? Ok
- This Angel appearance is so lame.
