Hello my name is Alex Goldman and I used to host the Reply All podcast. A lot of people liked that show. Now I make @hyperfixedpod.bsky.social which if you liked reply all youβd probably like well. The thing is that a lot of people who liked Reply All donβt know my new show exists.

If I were in Congress, I would spend Easter calling other Congress members about impeachment...
Glad that this piece has received some attention. It addresses a substantial problem.
My name is Jack Pavia, and Iβm running to be your next State Representative.
Yikes
Trump wants you to believe heβs more powerful than he is - and that you have less power than you do.
Tomorrow, millions of Americans will gather to remind one another where power actually resides in this democracy: with us, the people.
we could instead drive on electricity and save the corn for cool ranch doritos

This argument from @leedrutman.bsky.social is exceptionally important.

Can't believe I'll never play it for the first time again
Reminds me of the Outer Wilds DLC (Echoes of the Eye) - both in premise and in the art style!
(and yes, I met my wife there; we were both math students and our first real conversation was at the semester opening social for the math department)
Add to that the obvious incentives created by the religious standard of abstaining from premarital sex, and you get an atmosphere where the 75% of the student body that isn't already married is constantly thinking about how to do so.
It's a wild place.
On top of that, a majority of students (~40% of women and ~90% of men) are returned missionaries and have probably gotten (as I did) parting counsel from their mission president about how their next major milestone is finding a spouse.
Pressure / encouragement to date and get married comes all the time from local church leaders (all students are required to attend church). Church functions regularly feature speed dating activities, and messages from the pulpit often center the importance of preparing for marriage.
But regardless of that, the dating atmosphere is *very* charged. Most students (especially women, but also many men) are socialized to regard marriage and parenting as their #1 priority in life, and BYU is considered a prime place to find a quality spouse - it's *the* nexus for young Mormon adults
BYU alum here ππΌ relative to any secular school, there are certainly more restrictions on mixed gender interactions - the major ones being housing related. Guys and girls required to live in separate buildings, no visitors of the opposite gender after midnight (1:30am on weekends) - even off campus
Tycho has so much good design work - my favorite is probably Awake
100+ more Google employees have signed since yesterday

CBP has been turned into an enemy to the US constitution, law, and basic humanity.
I signed as an alumnus but even if you did not attend BYU consider signing if any of your donations ultimately support the school.
Hey, everybody! As an alumnus & former contingent faculty of BYU, I signed this statement of concern regarding BYU hosting CBPβan agency that openly flouts the US Constitution & the rule of lawβat their career fair tomorrow.

BYU folks (I know there are dozens of you here) - there's a petition to get CBP un-invited from tomorrow's career fair.
Share far and wide: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Just had an absolutely fascinating exchange with @hikikomorphism.bsky.social on the use of generative AI in law, which resulted in me crafting a question designed to trip an AI up in numerous ways; the AI correctly identifying those traps; and then getting the answer spectacularly wrong anyway. 1/x
This is the way, make βok, abolish only ICEβ the moderate position.
Decades of restrictive housing policies by liberal cities and states are finally coming back to bite us in a major way.
If we can't create the conditions for a massive blue state housing construction boom as soon as possible, we're cooked.
"Enjoy your city" is a pretty good motto
