This sounds wonderful - except for the tornado warning! And even that sounded like a good time in the 'fun' basement.

Hey @six18sfoundry.bsky.social this isn't one of yours, is it?
Where is Victoria - is that her, by the wall? How is she not flooded away by the water?
Just looking at this makes me grab the armrests of my chair so I don't fall.
I'm so cold... that's what I get, falling for all that "Yay, it's spring!" stuff when it's still April.
Interesting how many of us old retired brains are plugging away at 'big books' - I wonder if the cameraderie and support of this thread makes us more willing to try.
Ooh, yeah, that sounds really good - on my list!
Oh, yeah, the text-to-voice things can get really funky sometimes. I'm a Librivox girl myself for older stuff, listening while reading (helps me stay focused) but I don't always admit it ;)
Book Cover
I just started book 6 of Thucydides - progress!
And I also started a new transit book - When We Cease to Understand the World by Benjamín Labatut, translated from the original Spanish by Adrian Nathan West. Sort of a fictionalization of the Great Equations book, very interesting!
And for those with more contemporary musical tastes...

I usually save this for New Year's Eve, but ok.

“That is amazing. Absolutely nothing has changed, yet everything is different.”
Thoughts on reading David M. Rubin's short story collection, 𝘑𝘶𝘯𝘬 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴. From the everyday to the extraordinary, a fascinating read. @six18sfoundry.bsky.social

It's like Connections, but with pictures instead of words.
This game is driving me nuts.
(in a good way)
You never tell us the results of your study. So spill it: Who was the best crime fighter, Pete, Linc, or Julie?
Depends on what you mean by 'at a time'
And they just changed up the Webboggle format, my dopamine source, so I'm very upset. Just keeping everyone informed.
Does anyone else wonder what their mail carrier thinks is going on with all the books arriving all the time?
Yeah, it's weird. I just bought that book, do you really think I'm going to buy it again?
You know, Thriftbooks, you really don't have to ad me so hard, considering I buy something from you pretty much every month. Every week sometimes.
awwwwww....
I used to live in Quincy, MA - that's KWINN-zee, not KWIN-see.
Our basketball team was the Keltics, not the Seltics.
Here in Maine, we have BER-lin and CALLous, not Berlin and Calais.
I'm Melian, but my country is Athenian.
It's very strange reading about the Melian Dialogue at this point in time - and realizing I'm part of the wrong side.
Another case in point:
People been stepping up their photo posting game lately. Case in point:
That reminds me - a few years ago Nicole Krauss had a TNY story about A Taste of Cherry - or, more accurately, about Homayoun Ershadi. I knew/know nothing about it so it didn't register, but you might find it interesting.
