In the early 00s there was a very kind couple in the Disciple Bible study class I was taking. One week, the husband was feeling a bit ill during class. Before the next week, he was dead from Pancreatic cancer, which he didn’t even know he had.
The sound of his wife crying has never left me.
Just sobbed hardest I have since my mom died in 2020.
She missed these trials by a few months.
One of most ruthless cancers. Hard to fathom that maybe she'd still be here.

Also…computer software prices aren’t exactly comparable between 2000 and today. In ‘00 you mostly bought software as a one time purchase with occasional upgrades so it was more front-end expensive, but you could keep it and use it til the wheels fell off. But now with subs it’s totally different
