A young woman was kicked out of a UK nightclub because she uses a wheelchair. Sadly, yet another example of the ongoing fight for disability rights. See 'Ramping Up Rights' by @rachelcdailey.bsky.social

thank you!
Also made me realise just how many words I pronounce wrong in the first place tbh
Having just done a nonfiction audiobook, the bit about just forgetting how to read words is very real
Rewatched The Martian this weekend and it's still one of the fucking best films ever. Project Hail Mary is just as good (Even though Weir's views are not good)
Sunderland fans are outraged over the suggestion that bigot Nigel Farage may visit their club soon - and rightly so

This shit has been driving me insane. None of the major papers or politicians discuss this calculated contradiction in terms designed to drive us all into early graves.
'You must work' but
'We won't help you stay in work or enforce discrimination laws'.
It’s not even about the ideology anymore.
All the union jacks that have been up for months, not taken care of and left hanging off lamp posts just look like absolute shit now.
How’s that supposed to represent pride in where you’re from?
DWP forcing disabled people into work - but no plan for Access to Work increase
Just as the DWP is hell-bent on forcing disabled people into work, it's also quietly cutting Access to Work. Make it make sense says @rachelcdailey.bsky.social

Only 5% of the population are blue badge holders - but that hasn't stopped the AA and right-wing rags demonising disabled people
By @rachelcdailey.bsky.social
This is exactly what #Labour want, to make the process as difficult as possible, so that many people would just give up.
And presto! The govt save even MORE money they can pass on to the wealthy.
#Starmer doesn't care, neither do the #Tories or #Reform. They only care for the rich.
#WealthTax
They've changed a lot about The Testament's and it adds absolutely fuck all to the story except to make the protaganists younger
A disabled woman has accused BBC Panorama of wilfully misrepresenting her experiences, as the programme leads ableist pile-on

The DWP are such a disaster that a shocking 1 in 3 terminally ill people don't claim benefits because the process is such a nightmare

Lots of celebration for 2 child cap lifting, sick pay and “UC boost” happening today.
No mention of:
JRF warnings that this can’t be the only child poverty measure
UC health being halved for new claimants
Constant threats to take away fit notes
Like literally, have a fucking day off ableists
Yep!
Drop them like toast and see who lands butter side down
Who deserves a Blue Badge and how shall we decide?? A reality TV show in which a different “cripple” is voted off each week? A fight to the death in the public square? Dunking them under water to see who floats? Can’t wait to see how this develops!
Like literally have a day off 😂
Also, bloody hell, it's Easter Monday. Can't you just have a day off from ableism?
When we're back to language about the "deserving" disabled people vs the undeserving ones, from a random group like the AA, I fear it betrays how widespread anti disability rhetoric has become
www.theguardian.com/money/2026/a...
"one in 20" is a nice scary way of saying 5% and they conveniently omit that it means only about 20% of disabled people have a blue badge
There’s no proof of any “blue badge misuse” + stats are from 2011. The AA comment is seemingly responding to being asked about fraud.
Yet all the papers are running with another reason to hate disabled people, coincidentally as motability and benefit cuts happen.
I’m so bored.
The DWP is crowing about Universal Credit changes but in reality all this will just make life even harder for disabled people
By @rachelcdailey.bsky.social
From today, if you claim universal credit health element you’ll receive half what a current claimant does.
The DWP claims this is to “encourage” people into work, but these are people who are too sick to work. The DWP knows this.
Sadly, this is not an April fool.
