We now have over 600 responses! Thank you to all the #larp players who have taken the time to answer our questions and give feedback. We'll be starting our analysis in the next few days, so if you've been meaning to respond or are just seeing this — last chance: forms.gle/AnzkmhWShXS2...

You can view more results from the 2014 census and break it down by country here: larpcensus.org/results/en
The census includes all #larp, from vampire and parlor to fantasy campaigns, Nordic, fests, jubensha, battle games and more. E.g. the 2014 census found that 52% of larpers had played in a one-shot in the last year, while 76% had played in a campaign. We hope to get more details in the next census.
Definitely not too late, thanks!
#larp is varied. Some have few players, others have thousands. Players can make characters or be given them. You may play a character once or in a series. Rules vary from complex to absent. Some use foam weapons. Fantasy, SF and horror popular genres. VtM games like you’re playing are popular too.
Also glad to hear you found our data useful! Is it published online? We’d love to add it to our publications page if it’s not there yet: larpcensus.org/publications...
We invited larpers in Germany to answer the Round 1 questions. If you didn’t answer Round 1 you’re welcome to answer Round 2 and just select a nearby country like Austria. We just want each larper to only answer a single round.
Why are we gathering answers to a 2nd round of #larp preference questions? It's an exploratory factor analysis, to fine-tune our model of the various aspects of larp that people enjoy. The final questions will be used in the next Larp Census. Please answer here: forms.gle/AnzkmhWShXS2...
What is the LARP scene like in South Korea? Are there many other LARPS besides this V:tM game?
The results of our 2014 global survey showed that about half of people larping are over 30.

We have 550 responses, another 100 would be great. If you're in one of these countries, or if you missed Round 1 and live in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden or UK then please answer and select a nearby country.
This translation of our round 2 pilot survey is in Mandarin. If you know of any larpers and jubensha players in Taiwan please share.
你好!我們是Larp Census,是一個研究真人實境角色扮演(LARP)的國際合作團隊。我們好奇玩家為什麼享受LARP活動,並設計了一些問題,很希望可以聽到臺灣LARP和劇本殺玩家的想法。

We’re currently doing a pilot study in preparation for our next big poll.
It’s really no trouble, if you don’t mind. We’re following everyone with any interest in larp, as part of our outreach. Our feed is a secondary concern and it’s full of the whole spectrum of things larpers are interested in anyway, a lot of which is politics right now.
We appreciate you supporting our larp research hustle. 😉
Nice. In 2014 we did ask how many events larpers had attended in the last year. You can explore the results here: larpcensus.org/results/en
Interesting idea! If we did have that data, it could perhaps be compared to surveys of the general population, such as this one that found around 16.5% of people to be neurodivergent.
We specified different countries for each round so that people would only answer one round. If you missed round 1 and are in Canada you can still answer round 2 and just choose a different country like USA. We’re not using country in this analysis.
The first Larp Census in 2014 was answered by 30,000 larpers from across the globe. We’re now preparing for the second run. If you were surveying the larping world, what questions would you ask? #larp #surveydesign
Thanks!
Yes the UK was in round 1 which has now closed. It was largely advertised on FB but that’s slow going these days, which is why we’re here now too.
These surveys are to test some questions. Later we will launch the actual census, and it would be fantastic if you could help spread the word then.
Yes we’ll be doing a full second global census once we finish these pilot surveys.
What do you like about larp? The Larp Census is testing some questions! For Round 2 we'd like answers from: Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Slovakia, Taiwan, USA
Are you a larper from Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Slovakia, Taiwan, or the USA? We want to hear from you! You can help us by completing this survey about your larp preferences: forms.gle/AnzkmhWShXS2...
