Writing something in the Marla-verse this morning and absolutely reveling in the return to this world.
My newest review book is Marla by @jonathanjanz.bsky.social. Janz is a FANTASTIC WRITER. I loved his last book VEIL, which I reviewed and his Children of the Dark books are awesome too. Check out what his newest book is about: roland19.wordpress.com/2026/04/07/n... #books #horror
Well, about that...I agree and hope it will be.
If you're hungry for another story about a science teacher trying to save the world, check out VEIL. (It's decidedly scarier and bloodier than PROJECT HAIL MARY, but still...)
Thank you!

One major reason I appreciate anthologies is there is something for everyone. Not every story is going to win you and not every story is going to lose you. In this case, Iβm happy to say the majority won me, and I recommend you make your own stand on this if you havenβt already.

Absolutely wicked.
Lining our catβs litter box upstairs.
Hahahaha!!!
"But AI uses em dashes and semi-colons and figures of speech, so you can't use them in your--"
Let me stop you right there. I don't give a damn what AI does. It will never impact the way I write. Ever. Nothing is less relevant to me than generative AI "writing" tendencies.
I bet it already has!
Hoping the ARC team at @blackstonepub.bsky.social gives a "thumbs up" to my request on @netgalley.bsky.social !!
I canβt love this enough. Thank you, Michael!
Amazing new MARLA review!
MARLA is one of the most-requested horror titles on NetGalley. I canβt wait for you all to meet her!

I had a blast in this interview with One Final Twist. We talked about tons of things including MARLA. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxsS...
An author Iβm extremely excited about is R.J. Joseph. I got the opportunity to read her phenomenal story βHomegoingβ in SCREAMS FROM THE BAYOU (releasing today!) and immediately fell in love with her work. Eerie, surprising, imaginative, and unrelenting, her tale is the work of a rising star.
