Baseball Graphs Daily

I miss the old days of reading box scores and stats in the paper, so I vibe-coded my own version. It's informed by sabermetrics but still focused on the basics. Just built it for me, but if you're interested: dastudes.github.io/daily/index....

In an odd reversal of form, Jon Stewart has become my least favorite Daily Show host.

That’s sort of a typical difference, isn’t it?

You can help the poorest people in the world There's something in it for you, too

One of the best things you can do for yourself is recognize how easy it actually is for the typical resident of a rich country to do something meaningful to make the world a better place.

This first-hand account of homelessness is one of the best things I’ve read this year.

You know, bottom line, I think the main rub between Bill and WAR folks is the diff between average vs. zero baseline.

Then you should like xFIP, right? It’s basically K-BB plus flyball tendency.

I created xFIP back in the day because I basically found that HR/FB tends to randomness…but not always, as you say. It’s a probabilistic thing and of course you can’t be 100% sure who it applies to or not.

Not too. I was probably too focused on the ten year thingie

I always think of Willie Mays when I think about someone who hung on too long. 1961 or '62 would have probably done it.

Welcome to Baseball Graphs

Over 20 years ago, I created a little website www.baseballgraphs.com for fun. It lead me into a ten-year rabbit hole of writing and opining about baseball for The Hardball Times (tht.fangraphs.com/author/studes/). Now I just sit and marvel at what was wrought.

So I suddenly have over 400 followers for no good reason. Are these all bots? Or is there some sort of automated thingie on bluesky?
