A pain point with Substack is that the app users automatically get locked in to all updates happening in the app. And email subscribers without the app get emails. No choices.
You solve that problem with greater control/optionality and A LOT of creators and audiences will get interested quickly.

I don't know. But I'm going to keep clicking on the ads on the new pages of InfoWars to find out!
Saving this InfoWars google search result for posterity.
The world is a better place when ‘satire’ can illustrate how absurd reality has turned.
May you all burn a permanent place in search results with that label.
Congratulations @bencollins.bsky.social @jdlaflure.bsky.social and team.
Bridges are the new moats. For content creators as well as protocols.

Love to see reporters crediting the flavor of the towns that raised them to drive their journalism. And a Philly-edged investigative drive resonates.
Different context. And different town. But @emilysweeney22.bsky.social is showing us how to bring that into daily journalism curation too.
I think being here on ATproto is. Great place to start.
But @doctorow.pluralistic.net’s while essay ⬆️ is still with reading to remember why we should keep voting with our attention to build up new places designed to not shitify.

Just got out of synogauge to see this atop my feed ... and taking this divine signal to close the laptop.
So that's one blessing from this abomination.
There are green shoots in that direction for sure. Start.coop posted roles for shared services for journo union/coops just this week.

Congrats on the role! Great, great scoop.
My first story for @sfstandard.com, out today, is a SCOOP about a One Medical doctor who claims in a new lawsuit that the Amazon-owned primary care clinic illegally fired her for raising concerns about patient safety and harassment: sfstandard.com/2026/04/09/a...
Well. At least over the C’s.
The opportunity to join the Knicks bandwagon remains open :)

Would love to crash if it happens that first week of May.

Over on a certain other social feed, this nightmare continued to haunt me:
The only question I have is — how does one get invited to these kind of meetings!
At a more traditional journalism conference and it is …. Not the same.
That product ultimately failed. But it was a pretty seminal step in the march towards content/audience capture during the platform era.
I hope this weekend's work has the same trajectory in the other direction.
It was a joy to be in the room to learn about a thoughtfully designed schema and system for social publishing.
In 2013, I was in different kinds of rooms being presented a very different set of designs social publishing with "Instant Articles"
