Oh really? I honestly had no issue with the second half at all.
There's two real low points in the series in my opinion, one in the first season and one in the second, but otherwise I feel like the series is typically a pretty fun ride.

Oh fair. For me, there's a difference between things that are intended to be hidden such that they require dedicated investigation to discover, versus an important element that's intended as something of a centerpiece to the game's intended experience.

I say this because I'm aware I can be a bit negative when focusing on games that don't work for me. Mario, Skyrim, WoW, Overwatch, etc.
I don't want it to seem like I don't take any joy from these things at all, or that you're somehow wrong if you like them when I don't.

I cannot deny the intense exhilaration, joy, and wonder I felt the first time I used the wing cap in Mario 64.
Sure, I had to look up how to get it. I definitely didn't use it "efficiently".
But flying around that cloud space, feeling the freedom of the skies... It's a treasured memory.
A random thought (1/2):
I've mentioned in public a few times that I don't really gel with collectathons as a game type. I find them frustrating rather than satisfying. As a result, I tend to not view games considered superlative with the same fondness. Specifically here Super Mario 64.
BUT...
Sometimes you just need a bit of catharsis.
Is it constructive? No. But we are still allowed to be human, even when that can involve being petty 💜
