I will soon have several Pis running on several RF channels through the house. For now, cvbs is a placeholder until I get that finished

I'm using a pi zero running omxplayer on Debian buster, with a cheap i2s dac for audio. Obsolete and a pain of work with, but I struggled to find a modern solution that was lightweight enough to run on the zero and supports composite video output
More pics. It's on a swivel mount, and can easily be removed. I plan to run a number of playlists on various analog tv channels via closed circuit RF through the coax in my house; until I finish getting that set up, I'm running the Nickelodeon playlist via composite
Repaired and installed a necessary kitchen appliance today. (Full tube swap) Have a pi hooked up that shuffles a playlist of curated cartoon shows.
Alright y'all, I'm gonna try it. Ubuntu Linux on a Thinkpad T480s as my primary laptop. Never really used Linux before. Time to find out if this is the year of the Linux laptop.

We are soooooo back
Found these adorable little bootlegos at Walmart for $8 each. A few cursed building techniques, but overall not bad for the price. They are called "Zuru MAX Retro Collection". They are in these orb things that look like gachas, but which one you get is clearly labeled on it.

The backpack holds 500. You can get offbrand darts from Amazon, and many perform better than official ones. I purchased 600 darts for like $30 total iirc.
His kickstarter page has more info. I have wanted an m134 dtyle5 blaster like this to exist since I was a teenager, so I'm absolutely thrilled it's finally a thing. I can vouch this thing is seriously the real deal. Highly recommend checking it out.

The whole kit is extremely well thought out. The build process takes a number of hours, but it was genuinely fun and well explained. The build was surprisingly easier and more straightforward than I expected. The 3 milestones helped chop it up into 3 evenings of assembly.
The mechanics inside operate like a real m134 minigun, complete with a shell delinking and ejection system. It has 6 rotating independent firing mechanisms on a rotating cam, just like the real deal. The engineering on this thing is absolutely insane.
I had the privilege of beta testing Gatling Tommy's "Mother of All Blasters" kit. The MOAB fires 50 nerf darts per second (yes, 3000rpm) using its 6 rotating barrels, from a 500 round backpack. More info ๐งต

Who am I gonna see at Open Sauce this year?
Biggest CRT in the world
Well that was quite the sight to behold. (At VCF SW in Dallas)
The amazing Sony KX-45ED1 in the flesh.
Fun first day at VCF in Dallas. Lots of people showed up and stopped by. Looking forward to seeing more faces this weekend.
I'll be there all day tomorrow (Saturday), as well as Sunday afternoon. Hope to have someone to keep the TV running while I'm absent Sunday morning!
Still a bit off. Gonna wait to really dial it in until I move it out of the parents garage into where I live next
Thanks to the efforts of the DFW retro computing community, I will be showcasing the mythical KX-45ED1 at Vintage Computer SouthWest in Dallas this weekend. Hope to see you there!
if switch 2 is so good, how come there's no switch 3?
Such a shame Nintendo doesn't support backwards compatibility with the best Switch accessory
Yes
Made a second-channel video going over the project, showing it working, and explaining updates and progress. youtu.be/WP54d7D57Aw
I'm excited to finally release the first public version of WavePhoenix, my open-source implementation of a Nintendo WaveBird receiver - github.com/loopj/waveph...
Someone at Nintendo saw the scalpers and was like "yo what if we did that"
I ordered 3. Not even joking.
