A bit of silliness: I know I should concentrate on the actual politics/issues etc., but when I see the leader of the Welsh Green party I think of a certain Hollywood actor*.

* Clue:-
He said: "I have two styles of acting: with or without a horse".

I suppose many have said this before.

This comes as news from LBC shows Met basically aren't following up hit & runs against cyclists. Criminal drivers are clearly considered by many police as 'unfortunate but not a priority'. The consequences of that approach to society are horrific.

'Absolutely unacceptable': campaigners rage as LBC reveals 96% of hit-and-runs on London’s cyclists go unpunished | LBC Figures obtained exclusively by LBC show 100+ drivers in the capital are yet to be prosecuted for fleeing the scene last year alone, writes Benji Hyer

106 vehicle hit-and-runs on cyclists in London in 2025 - zero arrests. Only prosecutions involved 4 drivers coming forward voluntarily after leaving scene says @lbc.co.uk news. "Absolutely unacceptable" says our senior policy officer, Tom Bogdanowicz, in response: www.lbc.co.uk/article/cycl... ...

Indeed. AFAICR BC wanted to get the members and revenue from membership while getting CTC to do the work for everyday cycling.

the 3rd party insurance and the name. They actually don't do anything much for everyday cyclists out on the road unlike @cyclinguk.bsky.social .

Some feel that BC doesn't work as well as it should for grassroots cycle sport and then there was the Shell sportswashing...but these are other issues.

I wanted to say something like this, but @carltonreid.com got there first and he says things better what with being a journo 'n all.
"Like the one run by @cyclinguk.bsky.social and loads of local schemes? Hmmm."

Essentially BC are the governing body of cycle sport and get lots of members in for

Another case of how cycle sport (and I'm a former participant and super big fan) gets it wrong re-everyday cyclist safety.

The fact that she has not by now given a very long (or permanent) driving ban tells us that we do not have a real, civilised attitude to safety on the road in the UK.

I guess rear wheel through it being on a fixed gear, and there seems to be on the right hand side a lever which may go to something sitting on top of the front tyre?
