I'm a bit rusty and messed up the shadow on the pavement (picked up the wrong alcohol marker and ooops) but another familiar place drawn into my sketchbook

I almost finished Paladin’s Grace by T. Kingfisher and I’m thoroughly in love with these two dorks. I was starved for something like this, so naturally, I had to draw this unbelievably cute scene with them 🤍
The full process video of this piece will be up soon on my Patreon🤍

Low saturation drawing of a barn owl. The owl is looking to the right, and has a petals from a decaying sunflower around the back of it's head. The background of the image is dark.
Graphite pencil study of the character 'Sister Ruth' from the 1947 film Black Narcissus. A woman in a nun's outfit looks beyond the viewer with a haunted look in her eyes, she has a very slight smile on her face.
A watercolour painting I did of a path winding off into the distance. The light is that of a hazy winter afternoon. Either sides of the path on the horizon are what looks like hills that form a valley, the sky colour on the right is a warm yellow sky as the sun dips behind the hill. The light is hazy, and suggests the time of day is in the afternoon, the sky colour on the left still has hints of blue. This is watercolour, then touched up with acrylic.
Graphite pencil drawing on moleskine paper of a Little Owl. The owl is perched on a surface and is full of attitude, looking intently to the viewers left. Background plain grey.

Children have been drawing in books for centuries, here are a few examples.
Such a wonderful bridge to the past, the doodles seem so familiar 🥹

A tiefling woman in a black dress stands before a fiery background with hands ablaze with magic and a golden halo surrounds her head. A cloak - or tattered wings - flare up behind her
Painterly portrait of Daniel Ings as Lyonel Baratheon in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He is armoured and ahorse, smiling cheerfully.
One half body painting of Luke in his Bespin outfit holding a blaster and looking vigilant. One sketchy black and white drawing of him in side profile looking left
Compilation of three stylised headshot portraits of Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher. On the leftmost she is smiling cheerfully. In the middle she has her classic disappointed face with eyes closed. In the last she stares in surprise.

Ready to rock (I could be your goddess)
Wow, that's Mare Oriental on the left, a huge impact basin surrounded by mutiple rings of hills (tyocal for big impacts). That's very difficult to see from Earth becaue it's on the lunar far side, but easy enough if you're on the way to the moon and heading around back.
The Moon. NASA/Artemis II/Kevin M. Gill
New shot of the Moon taken only a few hours ago by the Artemis II crew! More of the lunar far side coming into view :-D

Last bit of artwork from me for today.
Spectacular high-resolution image of our home planet viewed through the Orion Crew Module window by the Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon on Flight Day 2, 3 April 2026 (pic: NASA)
A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)
😮 Awesome views from Day 2 of #Artemis II this morning.

If all goes according to plan, in a few hours, a crew of astronauts will begin a journey that will take them on a loop around the moon. Here's a video that NASA put together to help people visualize the journey through space, first orbiting the earth before looping around the moon and flying home 🔭
I don't care if this makes me a dinosaur. If I found out that a writer had used a solitary line of AI I would never read them again. If I thought someone had used AI in an email to me, I would never respond or indeed respect them again.

A drawing of Toshiro Mifune
Born on this day in 1920 - Toshiro Mifune.
illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.
"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight."
I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version 🖤
