In the fill & strokes menu, you can change how the line endings look.

Another option could be to have the lines join on a straight, rather than the corner.

Inkscape tip: closed paths in SVG are designated with a Z code. So, to find all the closed paths in a file, simply do a search for Z in the object properties

A smiling lucky cat with its right paw raised. It has a red ribbon around its neck with a yellow bell on it. It has magenta whiskers and claws, and its ears are red and magenta. It is smiling. There is a large vector version at 512px size and two small pixel art versions at 32px and 16px sizes.

I made a pixel art lucky cat and a high-resolution vector version for the Inkscape February Challenge: Make a Retro Gaming Asset. Blog post in the comments.
