You may he right, because I never seem to not underestimate the nutjobbery of GOP delegates.

I think he’ll advance to a primary, but maybe not get 50%. I mean Trevor Lee didn’t get 50% so …

That said, I think he’ll do exactly what he did two years ago in the general population primary - fail spectacularly

Methinks they create a small SaaS plugin in hopes of being purchased by a larger SaaS provider shortly after a hyper-inflated IPO

Oh, and saying the SLCo Council needs more testosterone and that’s why she’s running.

Zach is going to destroy Kathleen.

Her social media campaign has mostly been screeds about homeless people visitng South Jordan, UPU book banning crap and whining about taxes.

Utahns: I wish the GOP in Utah would just stop being weirdos.

SLCo GOP: Say less.

I may decide the time has passed for me to run for office again, but I’m not going away.

My focus is local. I want to make my county, my city and my neighborhood stronger, healthier and better. That’s where I think, perhaps, I’m meant to be in the work - with some dirt on my soles and fingernails.

I didn’t run for office just to hide in a corner if I lost. I ran because I want to make a difference in my community and now I get to do that with a different kind of focus. The work continues and I’m honored to be deeply involved in the Salt Lake County Democratic Party.

I’ll be back to work within the party grinding away to make sure we elect as many Democrats as possible in Salt Lake County and I’ll sign on to personally help elect some of the good friends I’ve made by knocking doors, phone banking and more.

My opponent on the Democratic side, Luke Maynes, secured enough delegate votes to avoid a primary and I endorse and support him.

While losing a close election hurts a bit - I was four or five votes away from sending it to a district wide primary - I am finding many silver linings in the outcome.

So anyway …
Yesterday was the Salt Lake County Democratic Party Nominating Convention and I was a candidate for Salt Lake County Council.

After the delegate votes were counted, I did not advance and that is OK.

Now I can be a snarky antagonist on social media again.

There are several silver linings to today’s outcome.

I am good to go and will be working hard with the county party and for individual candidates

Now pardon me while I quietly repress the anxiety I’ll be feeling all day while putting on my brave big boy face.

Let’s go!

That’s when one of us will face the Republican candidate who is a MAGA sympathizer in moderate clothing. I mean he hangs out with Trevor Lee and John Johnson.

So today, we need to vote for and support the Democrat who can win over unaffiliated and disaffected Utah GOP voters.

I believe that is me.

It’s Salt Lake County Democratic Convention today and I’m running for Salt Lake County Council in what I anticipate to be a close race for delegate votes.

My Democratic opponent and I share probably 99 percent of the same values and positions, but the real, long-view, race is in November.

In Utah, in March, 4594 people updated their official party registration to Democratic. Meanwhile, 810 ditched the GOP.

Utah Dem messaging to “come home” worked.

Still a huge statewide gap, but slow & steady progress is being made. Might translate into a flipped state house or senate seat?

I’m making 40-50 calls to delegates every day. Most go to voicemail and that’s to be expected. But, I gotta tell you, the best chats and conversations I have are with the old people.

Folks, old Democrats are freaking adorable.

Can’t say that about old Republicans

Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal.

Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big.

And here we are.

Ask me how I know and what I’ve been assured.

Now the task is to get 55% on Saturday.

Is Anderson going to beat Stringham at convention? How much will her MAGA extremism turn off moderate voters across the entire county?

If she advances, kinda thinking it’s looking like an easy Dem win for the at-large seat.

I like Eva. That said, I think this (for her) is as much about brand building for the future as it is about running for CD1 now.

For sure. Also an affordable housing trend and a graying population trend.

When we moved into my ward there were 50+ young women going to girls camp that summer just from our ward. Now it’s more like 15-20 even after merging with another ward.

Meanwhile many homes are empty nests.
