This is me but with Toontown of all things. Been grinding out the final version Disney made on a server emulator called Sunrise Games, since it works with Windows XP.

Not a very fun game, especially on a server with incredibly few active people, but it's what my brain has settled on.

In this regard, I appreciate Worms Armageddon for maintaining legacy support for all this time. Granted, 3.8 (and 3.8.1) seems to be more demanding than the versions before it, but still, 9x is still supported, and can still play online.

I get that options are limited for 9x especially, so I can somewhat understand why Worms 2 + just doesn't support 9x (even if I don't get it), but Unreal Tournament 2004's fan patches not even offering 32 bit exe's so XP players can still... Play, is just sad, to me.

Am I crazy for wanting projects for legacy games to still actually support legacy platforms?

I've run into 2 projects now, an update project for Unreal Tournament 2004, and Worms 2 +, that just don't support their original operating systems, meaning you can't play online on 9x or XP, with modern OS

I know it hasn't been 24 hours, but I think it's safe for me to say that the RAM has not been the source of my issues in Windows 98SE.

Guess it's time to try those modded drivers from VOGONS... after yet another reinstall of the OS.

3 weeks ago 2 0 0 0

I know it seemingly had some sort of development issues, as I remember it took a super long time to actually come out. Otherwise, with how popular the first game was, I expected the second game to be just as popular. Yet, I never saw it talked about as much as the first game, which is weird.

At any rate, it sucks how these can get so confusing, and be so much of a pain with the drivers, since they really are good when they work, it's just getting there under 9x is miserable.

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

God, what a pain... In my case, my Audigy does NOT have the gold plated contacts, instead being plastic and multi colored (it does have the Firewire port). I don't 100% know what difference lies there. I think I read it *could* be OEM, but those *should* have a different model number.

Assuming that the RAM is good after 24 hours, I'll try those modded drivers I talked about in another post, and see if those just work.

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

The Live also is a pain, due to the OEM varients.

Mine is an Audigy, SB0090, which isn't OEM, best I can tell. The drivers I used were the CD and VXD drivers from Phil's Computer Labs' site. Those worked for him, but seemingly don't work at all for me.

The Vortex 2 is great, and it's 3D Sound is fantastic (especially if you own Headphones), but it lacks good compatibility with Windows 2000. The Beta Drivers and Patched Drivers both have issues, and the included ones with Windows 2000, is missing the control panel.

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

The A3D one is there, because I do own an Aureal Vortex 2, and wanted to use both in my PC, but I've taken it out for now, to give the best chance of the Audigy actually installing under 98SE. Praying those modded drivers work...

It's managed to pass once, but I want to ensure that it can do so for 24 hours, mostly because that's the amount of time I always see people say to run this sort of thing for.

And if that 256MB SK Hynix Stick ever actually ships, then I'll have to redo this again for another 24 hours, to ensure the full 512MB this system supports, is all good.

Guide: Installing Windows 9x and DOS drivers on Audigy cards (version 3.1) \ VOGONS

If there are no issues with the RAM, I will try these modified drivers from VOGONS. I was originally using what was there on Phil's Computer Labs' website, but it just isn't working.

I'm having so many issues trying to install this damn Sound Blaster Audigy SB0090 in Windows 98SE, with it just not installing right, and having issues with a ctdproxy file, upon restarting after installing the drivers. I need to rule out the ram as as a culprit. See you all in 24 hours...

I get that the world of Retro Computing is fickle, and Windows 9X being weird and unstable isn't helping, but to have issues across driver versions far apart really goes to show that NVIDIA has always been terrible with drivers for their cards. Like... these are awful for the sake of retro gaming.

Desperately Need a GPU for my Retro Build that isn't NVIDIA or Raritanium \ VOGONS

Wanna read me delve into insanity? Well, watch me bitch my heart and soul out about NVIDIA, and how they have some of the worst drivers I have ever seen for anything ever!

Super Mario RPG & Digimon RPG Song Comparison UNCUT
Super Mario RPG & Digimon RPG Song Comparison UNCUT YouTube video by Infomaniac95

Never going to forget how a Digimon MMO in Korea (Known as Digimon Battle Online in America) basically copied the Axem Rangers theme from Super Mario RPG, and was still in the game's latest client data last I checked.

๐Ÿ˜ฌYeah, I didn't even think about that, god. I know Wine has to deal with that sort of thing as is, but with Minecraft arguably bigger and popular (at least that's how it feels in my head), I feel like that problem is going be like 10x worse, in the case of the MC decomp you've mentioned.

Like yeah, I dont like Microsoft either, but still...

I'm mostly concerned about just how much this could backfire. How many people could get sued for hosting copies of it, the mods, and how it could negatively affect the Minecraft scene as a whole, should Microsoft take action.

I hate to seem like a buzzkill, but

As awesome as it is to have source code for Minecraft LCE, and seeing all of the things people are doing with it-

When the Nintendo and other shit leaked, didn't we all agree it was a bad idea to do stuff with leaked code? Why is that just not the case here?

Ok, so the SD Adapter is MUCH slower (though according to the program, it's 24.2MB/s, which I assume is megabytes a second? For Windows 98SE, that speed is honestly more than good enough, and I think it should be fine to run the OS off the SD card. Going to use the CF card for Data.

(to clarify, the results in the first image are done over the CF card)

Now I'm going to try something. I'm going to image this CF card, and write it onto an SD Card, and see what the speeds are like there. Main reason id want to, is to have more storage, and because the CF card is mounted at the front, making it easy to remove, while SD has no mount.

God DAMN, am I so glad I held onto this card. The difference is fucking staggering. My startup sound is no longer stuttering, and everything except random write is better.

I don't think I'll even need the Ultra133 TX2, with how fast the Ultra 100TX2 already is!

CrystalMarkDB - CrystalMark Retro

Does anyone know what units CrystalMark Retro measures in? Going to do a speed test against a new IDE Card I got in, but I haven't been able to figure out what these number mean. These results are without the IDE card.

I didn't mean to imply that you were going to stop posting here, I apologize. I sometimes struggle to articulate myself well.

I do agree though. They aren't a good substitute for dedicated art galleries.
