Thank you so much for cheering me over the finish line!

It also has a good app that backs up all of the images on my phone when I'm at home on WiFi. Highly recommended.
It's brilliant! I've got it running on Docker on OMV (OpenMediaVault) 8. It's running on a Pi5 with 8GB of memory, with two 22TB drives in an external striped RAID case. Immich has good face recognition and a dedupe identifier.
Thank you so much, Kate! And thank you for helping me cross the finish line with my fundraising! They do such great work.
A week ago, I ran a personal best in my local half marathon. I have one last goal: To hit my £500 goal for raising money for Berkshire Women's Aid, which supports victims of domestic abuse. I'm only £59 away from my goal. Help me make it across this finish line. www.justgiving.com/page/kevin-a...
If you're a Welsh learner, and you'd like to up your game, give Ymestyn a spin.
@suw bear me to the post. A non-alcoholic happy hour for me one week out from the Reading half marathon.
The Pentagon’s statements are made for social media broadsides that bleed any nuance out of the ethical issues involved.
Anthropic refuses to bend to Pentagon on AI safeguards as dispute nears today’s deadline - The Associated Press
< Anthropic has outlined an ethical boundary for the use of its technology. Trump’s Pentagon wants the freedom to use it to surveil American citizens and launch autonomous attacks.
Enrollment dropping 55%? Is that at WashU or the pharmacy school they are acquiring?
For the third year in a row, I'll run the Reading Half Marathon (and for the second year in a row, I've come down with a nasty bug a month out, sigh). But I'm also running to support Berkshire Women's Aid, a group which supports anyone suffering domestic violence. www.justgiving.com/page/kevin-a...
Most of the world (I think something like more than 70%) is a net importer of fossil fuels.
This trend didn’t start with Ethiopia and it definitely won’t stop with them either.
Thank you Rachel. I can’t believe it has been 18 years since we got married and more than 20 years since we met. Just crazy but wonderful.
In policy and pronouncements, Trump and his MAGA movement are virulently anti-immigrant, militantly misogynistic and openly white supremacist. They aren’t solving problems in the US. They are creating new ones.
Thank you so much! I know. We can’t quite believe it. Time flies but we are happy to still be celebrating another year together.
A lovely meal to celebrate Valentine’s Day and our 18th wedding anniversary (tomorrow). @grabbity.bsky.social had to join in the celebrations with @suw.bsky.social
Yeah, it looks like something in the System folder.
Storage Settings in Tahoe gives me a good breakdown of what is taking up space. Up until I upgrades to 26.3, I had 32.5GB of apps, 1.96 GB of Xcode, 5.29 GB of Docs and 5.14 GB of photos. 145GB of System Data, which once ballooned to 170GB!
Trying that. I was just trying to use the CLI to disable local snapshots, but the command doesn't seem to work in Tahoe.
It's running that command now. When I was running commands like this a couple of days ago, I did have 21GB of Spotlight files. The default Spotlight in Tahoe indexes _everything_
Thanks, Gordon. All of those are deleted, and I've turned off automatic TM backups, as some people have suggested, which seems contrary to the idea of a 'set it and forget it' incremental backup.
And I'm backing up to my OMV NAS, which has 33TB left on it.
A two panel line drawn cartoon. First panel, the internet in 1969. One figure says "Let's create a distributed network so it can survive a nuclear winter". The second panel titled the internet in 2021 a different figure says "Let's host half of it in one company and see how it goes"
This cartoon gets more and more relevant with every passing day
Jack o’lantern 2025. From a pattern from Zombie Pumpkins.
Files will be easy. Apps and settings a bit more challenging.
That might work. What do you need to recover? Just files?
Can you install an older version of the OS to use the Time Machine backup? Feel free to reach out. I have stumbled through this as well.
I tried to brush her yesterday. And she protested that it wasn’t long enough, and she didn’t feel it put her in the centre of attention enough.
I need to repost a picture of one of our cats, Copurrnicus, rather than just posting the neighbour’s cat who has adopted me.
The final line of this short 'I knew the shooter' clip really, really needs to be memed and sampled - "This 'internet' shit is seriously no joke" ought to be the defining line of, well, the past three decades really: www.tiktok.com/@1brxnn/vide...
The reporting on Charlie Kirk’s killer in the UK & US highlights again how fundamentally ill equipped mainstream media is to report on political violence in the digital age.
They do not know anything about online far right meme culture & it’s starting to do real harm. #r4today
