Civil rights orgs play a critical role in holding power accountable. No administration should use their investigative power to intimidate groups it disagrees with.
That's not how a democracy works. Every American should be concerned by this.

The Trump administration says that pausing the construction of its $400 million White House ballroom would raise national security risks.
But auctioning off hundreds of seats to unknown people for a lunch at Mar-a-Lago isn't?
Pam Bondi appears to have been fired for not targeting Trump’s political enemies more aggressively.
An attorney general is supposed to follow facts and evidence. If loyalty tests replace that, we have a serious problem.
President Trump pardoning the extremists who tried to overthrow the government to keep him in power is exactly why we went to the Supreme Court to enforce his disqualification from office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
Trump is a clear danger to our democracy.
It's good that Swalwell and Gonzales resigned amid serious misconduct allegations.
But after decades in oversight, I can tell you: it shouldn't have taken mounting bipartisan pressure and looming expulsion threats for them to finally do the right thing.
The DOJ’s OLC says the Presidential Records Act is unconstitutional.
That's ridiculous. The law was passed during the Watergate-era to ensure transparency—and the Trump admin is clearly trying to avoid that.
Inspectors general are supposed to be independent and nonpartisan—not advance their own political ambitions or serve as a loyal partisan ally of an administration.
That's why CIGIE must investigate Labor IG Anthony D’Esposito now.
If Trump’s WH ballroom is essential to protecting the current and future presidents, then Congress should be getting briefed on it and taxpayers SHOULD pay for it. Instead, Trump is using it as a vanity project for corporate influence. We need answers.
If the DOJ inspector general declined to seriously investigate misconduct by Trump leadership, that's a fundamental failure of oversight.
Watchdogs exist to check power—not shield it.
When is Trump going to learn that you don't protect elections by attacking lawful voting methods used by millions of Americans (and him) or interfering with state-run elections?
The Trump organization is apparently selling Trump merch linked to America's 250th anniversary. Official commemorations should not blur into private profit. Ethics rules exist for a reason.
The Labor Department is a mess. First, the Trump administration gutted it. Now, it's drowning in scandal. And US workers are the ones who lose.
We need congressional oversight now.
The Trump administration wants to send federal agents to the polls in November.
Did they forget that 18 U.S. Code § 592 makes it a crime, punishable by 5 years in prison, to deploy federal troops to polling places?
The military exists to defend the country—not provide flyovers for a political ally. If public resources were used for private benefit, that's a serious abuse.
That's why @citizensforethics.org is asking the IG to investigate what happened at Kid Rock's home.
The Pentagon plans to keep the National Guard in DC until Jan. 2029—the rest of Trump’s second term.
The deployment has already cost $330 million so far. How much more will this cost taxpayers?
Undermining election security infrastructure right before a major election cycle doesn't sound very smart. Instead, it sounds reckless and corrupt.
Twenty cabinet members directed at least $30 million to benefit President Trump.
If officials are financially tied to the president, how independent do we really think their decisions are?
NEW: CREW President @donaldonethics.bsky.social is testifying today in a shadow hearing before the House Committee on Homeland Security to explain how the Trump administration’s actions have enabled corruption and prevented DHS from fulfilling its core mission.
Translation: Trump admin officials are trying to decide which parts of history they deem too critical to show the public.
History shouldn't be altered to fit a political agenda.
President Trump's memecoin is surging as investors chase access to Mar-a-Lago.
If that sounds like selling access to power, that's because it is. It's also blatant corruption.
If President Trump was serious about fraud, he wouldn't fire 17 inspectors general within days of taking office and leave 21 offices vacant, while also granting clemency to convicted fraudsters (including several billionaires!).
That's not reform.
Trump's sons met with officials from 8 foreign governments while the Trump Organization seeks new deals abroad.
When a president refuses to divest, this is exactly the corruption risk Americans get.
Trump's DOJ is now targeting a voting tech company that supplied machines in the 2020 election.
Numerous audits, recounts and lawsuits have failed to turn up any evidence of widespread voter fraud.
It's time to give it up. Enough is enough.
Jared Kushner has played a significant role in ongoing conflicts in Iran, Gaza and Ukraine.
So long as he fails to file a public financial disclosure and divest from any conflicting assets, the public can't trust that he is working in their interest.
We had the honor of visiting Selma last weekend for the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday. It was extremely inspiring speaking with civil rights leaders about the courage and sacrifice that's necessary to maintain and strengthen our democracy.
Maybe if Kristi Noem had funneled more money to the President’s business instead of her associates, she’d still have a job? @citizensforethics.org explores the current (and soon to be former) cabinet officials directing money to President Trump.
Georgia's 2020 election results were confirmed by courts, audits and recounts. But election deniers keep trying to relitigate the outcome.
That doesn't protect elections, it undermines trust in them.
Rep. Tony Gonzales admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with a staffer yet he wants to stay in office until the end of the term. That's unacceptable.
Gonzales must resign immediately.
Federal agents killing people in the streets didn't get Kristi Noem fired. Charging taxpayers millions for corrupt ads didn't either.
But embarrassing Donald Trump on TV? That did it.
Over the past few weeks, @citizensforethics.org has secured major wins:
-Trump DOJ ordered to release records on voter data collection.
-Trump OMB blocked from hiding spending decisions.
-WA court cited our brief against Trump election EO.
-SCOTUS rejected GEO Group immunity bid we opposed.
