I think it requires more than money to do something like that. Rehabbing broken crts and building from pre existing parts will probably be the only choice in time.

Like basically every music video is in 4:3 nowadays. It’s probably the most mainstream it’s been since HD panels became the norm.

It’s like literally impossible is my understanding. The production of new CRTs was only possible with a mass market, very specific supply chains, years of institutional knowledge. I feel like highly responsive 4:3 panels may certainly get a bigger foothold though?

The problem is fighting games switched to 16:9, making health bars longer, so they had to invent long combos to whittle those long life bars down. It’s all a big racket.

That’s not at all true. They made the original Frogger. Many of their early console hits were arcade ports like Gradius or Contra series. Then they had the TMNT beat em ups, Simpsons Arcade, X-Men. They were plenty relevant before 1998.
