"I am the law and the law is not mocked."
- Inspector Javert, and Kristi Noem
I think some of this was already going on when he got there but... Still, it's nice.
Was sending expensive military hardware over an apartment building in Chicago and dragging people into the cold in the middle of the night good? No.
BUT was it justified because it was to catch very dangerous drug traffickers and not, for example, a very expensive eviction of squatters? Also no.
"Your action was in violation of the law, yes, but it was also in violation of the Constitution, and the declaration of independence, and dear God the holy Bible WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU."
It all but said "and may God have mercy on your souls, but I wouldn't hold my breath."
I really did not believe that order was real. The first two pages are also something to behold. They got him real mad.
I'm really starting to think he's not writing these anymore.
Ah yes, arresting journalists for journalism always goes so well and is never a sign of increasing authoritarianism...
In context, this verse is about how to treat people who lie about other people to try to cause them harm. Like he's doing.
He's said elsewhere that his bachelor's in biblical studies was a big waste of time, and based on this post I'm inclined to agree with him.
It's ironic to see the same people justifying the regime deporting migrants because a few people who have the same immigration status killed people, while giving ICE agents who themselves shot and killed people in broad daylight in front of witnesses with cameras the benefit of the doubt.
The Minnesota Star Tribune is following reports of individual ICE incidents as we learn of them. Find updates here. Tips can be emailed to whistleblower@startribune.com.
I'm sure the right is going to make up a "reasonable explanation" for that center photo. I'm sure it's in progress even as we speak.
There's been a lot of concern about polarization but what's not being taken into account is how much more and more extreme the right keeps getting. At this point a moderate position from fifteen years ago would be considered polarized vs the modern right, who are defending kidnappers.
In a way sure, but while the US kept Hollywood style Nazis alive and made Germany look bad, we here in Europe have moved on and we respect Germans. I am a neighbor of them.
Germans have dealt with their past and educated their youth, US not so much about their racist past.

This is surreal. 4 Oglala Lakota men kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis have finally been located. One of them was released but the other 3 are being held at Fort Snelling, a former concentration camp used to imprison Native people incl. the Dakota 38 during Dakota Wars.

Last week's episode of "The USA" felt a little over the top. I mean, having the Gestapo analogues kill a woman named "Renee Good" feels kinda on the nose, don't you think? Are the writers getting lazier this season? And what happened to the Venezuela plotline they introduced the week before???
"As president I just wish..."
Making America whiter again won't make America great.
I can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland.
Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.
Thank you @r-emrys.bsky.social for writing /A Half-Built Garden/. I very much enjoyed reading it and your vision of the future. I keep thinking we have to imagine better and you and your network did that so well!
Her name was Renee Good. She was only 37. She was a mother of a 6 year old child. And today in Minneapolis, MN, an ICE fascist shot her dead point blank.
Sending all my love to her child and her family.
Abolish ICE. Abolish fascism. Abolish tyranny.

Very easily. If the people who got run down are people the president doesn't like, it's fine, but if they are people who work for him, the death penalty is appropriate 🙄🤬
I just added the invasion of Greenland and senator John Kennedy having to take this back to my 2026 bingo card.
User question: what was that kitschy awful Christian movie about the guy who became a big-shot businessman or lawyer and then got a chance to jump into an alternate universe where he married the girl from his church and then had a lot of kids and became a preacher? I think David AR White was in it, but it might not've been him. Answer from Perplexity: The movie you are thinking of is almost certainly “What If…” (2010) starring Kevin Sorbo, Kristy Swanson, and John Ratzenberger, produced by Pure Flix.
Thank you, #PerplexityAI.
The Good Place sticked the landing in season 4 so perfectly.
I'm referring here to that person whose obituary many in the United States are eagerly looking forward to reading.
I got moribund. Maybe that means he's gonna die?
People today are surprised to learn that I was homeschooled, and with the amount of work it took to get to that point, I'm pretty proud of that.
Of course their version of the Nativity doesn't have oat milk. I discovered a while ago that regular milk causes lower back pain for me. I imagine this version of the Nativity story would do the same for my soul.
Turns out the problem is their hearts are three sizes too small.
