Yes, they have. In 2022, my neighborhood was the first to remove and replace racially restrictive covenants. michiganadvance.com/2022/02/25/a...

Come on down and join me tonight (until 7pm) for the Ann Arbor Road Rightsizing Project Open House at the downtown Library engage.a2gov.org/a2r2
I'm in! But traveling a bit too much to organize super quickly. How about next May during Bike month?
We did it and an unanimous vote!Huge thanks to all the advocates who rallied and my original co-sponsors Dharma Akmon, @jenncornell.bsky.social. Now we work to ensure this is stable and permanent funding.
I'm working closely with Councilmember's Akmon and Cornell.
Despite unanimous Council resolutions and clear planning direction, our City budget still doesn't have $ to reconfigure our most dangerous streets. I'm working on a budget amendment to correct that- we cannot continue to accept fatalities.
I fully acknowledge that sunset was a learning curve for me. But it was not undermining staff. Staff proposed narrowing the roadway in early project meetings. This project has experienced VERY long delays, but has not been cancelled. In meeting after meeting with staff, this has been confirmed.
Was trying to substantiate this much of yesterday afternoon, but yes. Confirmed reports of ICE entering restaurants. No reports of detainment/arrests. No AAPD involvement. Working to get resources/info out soon.
Both? Honestly, with a layers, it wasn’t bad.
Proving I’m a hearty Michigander, biking to my City Council meeting. Just a few more layers than normal. #conquerthecold #a2council
Send me a note after you’re registered and I’ll add you.
Added!
Okay, figured it out. I need to add team members manually. So you register and then let me know, and then I add you to the team. You’re added.
Let me check-in with GDT tomorrow, but it’s possible I may need to add you. I found the interface a bit confusing too
Above was of course in jest, you can participate as an individual, start a team, or join a team.
A few Wards have h as friendly competitions in last years. Hope you’ll join in the fun.
Join me in participating in the GetDowntown Conquer the Cold challenge. Starts tomorrow. Join the Ward 5 team if you live in the 5th Ward. Or, if you wish to lose, another nice team. www.getdowntown.org/events/conqu...
It was discussed in one of my first meetings in Airport Commission as I recall. Before our current Airport Manager retires, I’d like to make sure this gets documented. I agree this is a really important issue.
Can you share where you learned this? This is not data I’ve ever been presented
To clarify, I would say the airport runway expansion failed… an airport expansion was not up for a vote.
This has been explored and is of great interest to the airport. The takeaway from the distributor was that it is not yet viable in a2.
The vote was not related to litigation
Don’t miss Walk Bike Washtenaw’s Annual Meeting. A great place to connect with other advocates. Tuesday 11/19 from 7-9pm at Conor O’Neill’s.
This is an issue I’ve been concerned about and am researching. I welcome ideas. We don’t yet have a plan to support affordable commercial space. Critical as redevelop older, affordable retail areas and increasingly will push out small, local, BIPOC businesses
They have definitely been a LONG time coming!
Yep, we approved a contract to get separation up on Main Street and other areas. Definitely needed! We want infrastructure that’s visible day and night.
Two-way protected bike facility hopefully coming soon to Miller! Up for a vote at the next Council meeting.
And now discussion is underway about the City creating a new parking authority and building/managing 3 new parking garages for Arbor South! Ugh. See 11/12 Council work session.
Hey!
I tend not to spend much time on social media, but will pop in from time to time. But hope folks will call/text/email directly me or come to monthly coffee hours.
Excited to have you joining the Commission!
