Which is why I’m seriously considering my voting options ... Albo’s back pedalling and lack of policy direction on climate & environment has me seriously questioning my support for the ALP in the House of Reps. The Senate is another matter altogether.

First time I’ve purchased the West in a long time. Thought I’d check out what the Stokes minions had to say about the Federal Election. Just the usual tripe… amazing that they still haven’t registered that as a State we tanked the LNP at the 3 previous state elections #auspol

Academics & others need to understand a few things.

A 🧵

I) First, fascism is not inevitable.

Research on autocratic movements show that only about 3,5% of the population need to resist to stop them.

Fascism thrives on the silence of the friends.
That why visible resistance matters.

It’s no longer safe for Australians to go to America. This is insane. We ALL have American friends. Mine are like family. Dear god.

I just keep thinking of the Handmaids Tale. It’s as if it is coming true, in front of our eyes, but in slow motion.

I agree. POTUS tanks the stock market, encourages his sycophants to buy up 3 hours before he reduces tariffs. The world has gone mad.

Australia is in an extinction crisis – why isn’t it an issue at this election?

It’s about time the media covered the appalling lack of environmental policy and commitment from the ALP this election #auspol #australianwildlife

Interesting. I have never thought of it from that perspective. Has there been published research on the impact of a globalised economy on carbon emissions?

Who will they blame when the baby boomers are gone and no longer the fall guys? Because they never blame the real culprits- the mega rich. #TaxTheRich #ClassWar #EatTheRich

I’ve recently had one take up residence under our front yard deck. Such a delight - usually seen at dawn and dusk.

In regional and remote areas though? I think Boost may be the way? And way cheaper.

Not true! See my comment below. Telstra was abysmal with supplying an e-sim that actually worked!

3 hrs with Telstra on phone getting an e-sim posted out. E-sim arrives 2 weeks later, does not work.
3 hrs with Telstra on phone take 2: we can’t fix it, you’ll have to do a 2 hr return trip to your nearest Telstra shop to get it sorted. Drive to Telstra shop: 2 hours later finally sorted. A rort!

Now I want to check it. But I won’t. I have a small amount invested in shares which I did check this morning. They’ve plummeted by 10%.

AFP Deputy Commissioner National Security Krissy Barrett: statement on Operation Kissinger | Australian Federal Police This is the first time the AFP has publicly provided details about Operation Kissinger, which is an investigation into those responsible for a caravan found with explosives and antisemitic material in...

Crucial news today, with the AFP revealing that a sizable portion of the genuinely scary antisemitic shit going down is… deliberate scaremongering by organised crime, diverting police resources, trying to secure deals with the cops, and shifting blame and attention.

Elon Musk is wrong. To spurn empathy is to spur evil Elon Musk claims empathy is a weakness of Western civilisation. Perhaps he fears a more hopeful view of human nature.

Psychologist Gustave Gilbert, who interviewed Nazi leaders during the Nuremberg trials, said… a definition of the nature of evil: “It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants,” he said. “A genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow man. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.”

The costs of insurances (home, contents, vehicle and medical) for a middle income family of four is astronomical.
We only opt in to the most critical.
It’s depressing.

The community are being told to evacuate in certain areas right?
Why would anyone stick around if they don’t have to, including Dutton?
It is not news…
And I am NOT a Dutton supporter.

Government AI, defending DOGE and more: Takeaways from Elon Musk’s three-hour interview with Joe Rogan The wide-ranging interview between the two prominent Trump supporters comes as Musk remakes the federal government.

Musk states "the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy". Charles Darwin, who actually researched this stuff, showed it was empathy, specifically, that enabled humanity to flourish.
