The plot thickens. Apparently this author emailed me at my correct submissions email address and a few days later the scammer wrote her back from anniebomkeliterary@gmail.com. So they've hacked my email in addition to scamming people in my name.
This is a whole lot of nonsense. Sometimes publishers will ask the author to have their book vetted by a lawyer or they'll suggest sensitivity readers, but it's not anything like this.
The scammer claims "major houses often require an external professional certification on [controversial] themes before they will sign off on a significant advance. It’s a matter of protecting both the author and the publisher from technical or 'cultural liability' critiques."
Another day, another email from an author who's been communicating with the scammer operating anniebomkeliterary@gmail.com. Apparently this person is telling authors that they need to get a "Narrative Integrity & Compliance Audit" from a consultant they work with.

You lovely writers are so prolific that I will probably be closing to queries soon. In the past day, I've gone from getting maybe 10-15 queries a day to maybe 150-200. I try to close once I hit around 800 queries, and I'm at 540 now.
