This screams "we needed to make a VC happy". At Techaro we totally understand where this comes from and why it would happen.

We only hope you understand when Techaro is made to do the same.

It's coming! I just uh keep adding to it. And then new things keep happening while I'm adding it. I had to read 80 more pages of court documents because things developed while I was adding something else

tl;dr: We tried to be nice by throwing challenges less often for "real browsers". The bots adapted. We can't have nice things.

At some point we may be forced to do some AI something in order to get a government grant or some kind of funding. If this happens, please don't judge us too badly, we're just trying to survive like you are and you gotta play the game.

How will this be factored into Anubis on the server side?

Anubis will store information about each honeypot session in the server state. This will be used to add weight to clients by IP address and user agent. The more hits from a /24 or /48 it gets? The more weight the request gets out of the box.

Before you ask it: Will this be configurable?

Yes. It will. Right now this is the early test version that is being used to prove the idea. Eventually this will be pluggable with your own bullshit generator using WebAssembly and CGI.

This early test version generates LinkedIn-core bullshit:

feat: first implementation of honeypot logic by Xe · Pull Request #1342 · TecharoHQ/anubis This is a bit of an experiment, stick with me. The core idea here is that badly written crawlers are that: badly written. They look for anything that contains <a href="whatever" /> ...

We've been holding back the latest release of Anubis to give you honeypot / garbage generation. Read the draft PR for more information.

DEEZ, which stands for 'Deploy, Exercise, Evaluate, Zero-in', relies on compartmentalized testing grounds, known as 'NUT's ('Neutral User Tests'). We hope this strategy will let us synergize our buzzwords for maximum efficiency!

We've mastered the DEEZ stack at Techaro. Be afraid.
