Proud of @alymay.bsky.social and all they're doing to advocate for transit and transit riders in Albuquerque. youtu.be/iY3pbkMlyr8?...
I suspect whoever invented the automated phone systems that respond to voice commands did not have to make a lot of phone calls with a toddler yelling at the same time.
Agreed- we have a big “don’t let the robots listen” policy in our home
Small drone attacks are killing more civilians around the world than ever before.
I made a map about it:
K Kelsey 2 hours ago 2山 Did the Great Recession make it easier to sell NYC on people-first modes of transportation? As we continue into a worsening oil crisis, can we sell transit and pedestrian infrastructure as fiscally responsible? .. •
Alright, back from the event. Pretty good, excited to read the book. Turns our Urbanist Church preaches well to the choir of urbanists, who still need to be reminded why they're singing.
The question I out in to ask was about the "great recession" of it all: JSK's big years line up perfectly.
Anonymous 28 minutes ago 20 You've laid out what works. ABQs DMD knows what works. Instead, it prioritizes pilots-calling it progress while PEOPLE DIE on our streets. At what point does "we're still learning" become a policy of accepting casualties, and how do you force a city agency to stop experimenting and start committing?

"This city doesn't do a good job telling the stort of success. Crashes along where the dedicated ART infrastructure is have fallen by 65%. We don't have data on businesses it's helped open up."
-- Aaron Sussman of Toole Design, in the panel portion.

Folks, it's that time again: what if Albuquerque had urbanism?
Here to answer questions, Janette Sadik-Khan
Talked to someone in the local offices for Stansbury and Heinrich, left a message with BRL’s
I just finished writing my three congresscritters some of the same thing.
Just called @repstansbury.bsky.social’s Albuquerque office to express my gratitude for her sentiments so far and to ask her to actually get on a plane back to their offices in DC with the other Democrats because this is a national emergency.
Speaker Johnson, we are calling on you to bring the House back to DC IMMEDIATELY!
The Cabinet needs to invoke the 25th Amendment. But Congress can’t just sit on its hands and wait for that to happen when the President is threatening to commit war crimes TONIGHT.
For some reason I am finding it very hard to stay focused on researching transportation utility fees.
same Overton Window-shattering tactic he’s always used: Even if worst doesn’t happen tonight - rhetorically he’s opened up possibility of the unimaginable, making lesser (but still horrible) actions seem moderate by comparison… all increasing likelihood that one day the worst really will happen
Working theory: Peña is the Fetterman of the city Council, and Baca is the Heinrich.
Holy shit that’s a good theory
Public comment? They limit the total number of general comments to the first 30 sign ups but they don’t limit on the bills themselves. Under this council president, if >50 people sign up that day, all comments are limited to 1 min, but it’s her discretion and unevenly enforced
Ranked choice voting lost in Albuquerque tonight. I expected it and I’m also extremely disappointed. We deserve nice things.
We don't talk about that.
#Burquesky
Like this post to vote for West champ New Mexico!
We haven’t forgotten, @heinrich.senate.gov
Aww thanks darlin’
Comments unanimously in favor, maybe the people will pull it off?
Look I'm biased but I think @alymay.bsky.social nailed this.
Several people in the council chambers in Albuquerque City Council. The man speaking at the podium is in a Common Cause shirt
Public comment on Ranked Choice Voting before Albuquerque City Council. It's good, should happen, simple, clear, cheaper, & less burdensome than current runoff rules. I'm...not optimistic this City Council will vote for it, given they've limited comment to 1 minute.

Idk I would’ve called this one “The Glyptodos and Glyptodonts of New Mexico”
3yo watched me take my SSRI this morning and asked if I was taking medicine because I am “grown up sick” and honestly, what a good euphemism for depression
A tweet from Sarah Parcak with the text I'm changing the name of Hobby Lobby to Looty Booty.
This gets referenced continuously in our household, mostly by me, to the point where I've had to explain it to my mother, and my wife has had to explain it to her mother, and I laugh every time.
And for that, I thank you.
I'm of the opinion that caring so much about "Choice Riders" is just more classism wanting to not be uncomfortable seeing the kind of wealth disparity that comes from our current system.
Yes we need more people using transit
Yes it needs to be competitive
No you don't need to be weird about it
