This week’s newsletter kicks off with a little essay about what can get shared on social media… and what has to wait, sometimes.

Plus the usual bts stuff about comics and whatnot… take a look!

So sorry, Imani. May his memory be a blessing.

That one was used by legendary British comedy writer/actor Spike Milligan.

He also wrote a book about being a corporal in the British Army during WW2 and called it “Adolf Hitler: My Part In His Downfall.”

Friends, our Dan Dare graphic novel Kickstarter campaign is just 40 hours from ending. It would be incredible if you could help us one last time by reposting our Kickstarter post it would really help us cross the finish line in style!

“Now, my Woody Allen impression: I’m a neurotic nerd that likes to sleep with little girls.”

(Kind of amazing that it was just, you know, a joke. Based on common knowledge.)

It’s a top notch episode for sure.

“On closer examination, I am wearing loafers…”

I saw Woman Chaser in a theater. I think at the Nuart. I’ll look up Shanks.

Is THE WOMAN CHASER the thing with Warburton? I remembered liking that…

What are some of the films, if you don’t mind saying…?

It was a fun show! Definitely could make a great comic out of it.

Jon Lovitz as a movie critic. Animated show with one spectacular crossever episode with the Simpsons.

Talking to himself. The main reason — possibly the only one — dudes like this pop up and shit on the living room floor is no one pays attention to them. He posts constantly and gets zero interaction.

A lot of internet-poisoned folks prefer negative interaction to no interaction. So they chase it.

…and ended up passing out 110 year old bolt action rifles to draftees.

I mean. Yikes.

I have always wondered if the Russian military was a paper tiger… but even I would never have imagined they would, you know, RUN OUT OF AK47s.

I mean. That’s fucking wild. That’s some desperate shit.

I have seen both used as past tense.

I only knew the names of British Prime Ministers between 1955 and 1975 because of the Goon Show and Monty Python. From context, you can guess “oh, that must be an important government figure.” But those jokes weren’t designed for an 8 year old American kid.

You shit on the rug. You got the newspaper.

If it worked for you, that’s great. That’s what makes art amazing. No two people experience the same art. The same person doesn’t experience the same art on the second watch. It’s an interaction.

I never argue this stuff with people: there is no right or wrong.

I knew the Russians were historically fucked when I started seeing the report they were arming conscripts with the Mosin-Nagant, a rifle that goes back to the Tsars.

And that’s GOOD. Teenage girls deserve a Supergirl for them.

It’s awesome when something not made for you still works for you. I sincerely hope they weren’t making Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur for old white men. But I loved it. On the other hand, I watched Supergirl and kinda liked it but ultimately the “CW teen girl soap opera” aesthetic was not for me.

A related concept is that not every work of art is for you. Some is targeted or intended for an audience that has different wants and needs than you. And that’s fine. It’s VERY freeing to conclude “this isn’t for me” and stop reading/watching.

Some states — even prior to the fall of Roe V Wade — had ultrasound laws, forcing pregnant girls and woman to undergo an ultrasound before they could get an abortion. Real fascist stuff.

It popped into my timeline just now. No idea why.

But that guy is still a worthless tool. And AI integration with Word is such a disaster it’s fantastic he’s still got it in his bio. Might as well put “Hindenburg CoPilot” on there.

Add an entirely new religious objection to abortion to Protestant sects… and now you’ve got a weapon against women’s health and freedom for all time.

When that coalition erodes as cultural mores change… Reagan makes his devil’s bargain with the anti-abortion fanatics and the modern GOP is born.

But that is not a thing you really say out loud, to the public, even in the 19th Century. You can’t build a movement out of that.

What you CAN say: America is being overrun by inferior races, through immigration and the growth of free Black families, and white women aren’t having enough babies.1/2

That was primarily the AMA chunk I called out in the second half. The new association of male doctors faced heavy competition from midwives for women’s medical care. Abortion was a big source of income for midwives. Outlaw abortion and you destroy female competition in medicine.
