How can a small, everyday practice in a classroom make a world of difference for a migrant child?
I wrote about this for EERA, drawing from my PhD research. In a world often hostile to immigrants, these subtle shifts are vital to fostering a strong sense of #belonging.
Jean Charles de Menezes was killed by armed police in London in 2005, mistaken for a suicide bomber. The prejudice which led to that error persist, affecting Latin Americans and contributing to exclusion, unjustified arrests, & deportations ✍️

Excited to share that @latinamericabureau.bsky.social republished my article on the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes and 20 years of criminalisation and marginalisation of Brazilian migrants in the UK.

With Leeds Trinity and Loughborough we're now actually at 83, or exactly half of the 166 universities @timeshighered.bsky.social counts.
HALF OF OUR UNIVERSITIES ARE SHEDDING STAFF. In a normal timeline, politicians would care about this and try to do *something*, *anything*, right?
Looking for bluer skies and a space with less hate and more care. Here’s to finding it.
