3.) No amount of troubleshooting ever got me beyond the login point of the PlayOnline launcher FFXI uses. I’d try once or twice every year to get in, and every time was met with disappointment.

2.) I had watched a friend’s brother play it for many hours, and I really wanted to be a part of that world. I couldn’t believe how many times I tried getting into that game over the years and just… Couldn’t. No matter what I did, there was always an error message of some kind.

1.) Story-time. So, two decades ago (I know, I’m old enough to be your mom and in fact I am your mom so be quiet and listen) there was an MMO I desperately wanted to play, but the universe decided I wasn’t allowed for whatever reason. The game is Final Fantasy XI, their first shot at an MMO.
