gross but unsurprising -this coalition has always given business & corporations precedence & privilege in everything over & above any real world impacts on actual people

it’s maddening how the media falls into this without any context

another terrible idea today from Stanford in education - what’s a kid at a ‘C’ or ‘D’ school going to feel like? once again this change privileges the priveliged but I guess that’s the coalition all over

Yea I agree for me those first eps / Hellzapoppin up to Venus Trail I couldn’t imagine a better band anywhere in the universe. The live shows were absolutely immense slabs of hare brained unhinged joy. Such a giddy wild feel - I loved them.

Labour is not the problem, capitalism is Political analysis that fails to grapple with the social and economic conditions in which Labour is forced to operate is unhelpful and misses the point

This the best thing I have read recently weareunderused.substack.com/p/labour-is-...

if that sort of deferential treatment happens frequently & consistently for one side over the other doesn’t it sort of lead to only one conclusion ?

Yea they just parroted the obviously coordinated attacks from the right & really didn’t say a lot else.

Oh, so just caught up with the news - new taxes can just disappear by calling them levies. Sweet. That wealth levy of ours should now be supported by everyone. Labour can go bolder with its CGL

Far out unemployment rate for people in nz under 30 at 12.5% don’t know why this isn’t a bigger headline www.stuff.co.nz/money/360934...

but it feels like this is what journalism is now - there are exceptions but seems mainly done by a bunch of people who know nothing with zero perspective & who can’t be bothered stretching to find stuff out if the subject is further way than the end of thier own nose

extremely odd choice of person to review a gig even more so since this person is even bad at doing regular person journalism

yes also this particular issue is probably pretty niche & may not be widely understood or cared about Peters just playing to the cookers who gave him a few % don't know if this is really anything which will move the dial very much but anyways I agree our media is sadly vv weak

2 months ago 0 0 0 0

prob scared of Peters sick of the ad hominem attacks which is his stock & trade when anyone criticises Greens they will usually try to explain in terms of policy/ consequences - Peters just attacks the messenger & gets increasingly threatening

Yes exactly he suffers from the opposite affliction -the little known ‘anti-imposter syndrome’

YES x 1000 - NZ media v depressingly weak at the moment when we need them the most.

This makes me mad & worried.

Applies everywhere & definitely in NZ this election year - not confident at all in the overall quality of coverage we are going to get which also results in the unchecked pernicious influence of shady $$ on shaping the narrative.
