Occam's Razor.

Like, the go-to for that scenario is not "something innately wrong with the individuals". It's "this social situation both enables and encourages harmful behavior".

They don't have to build well if they're just planning to turn and burn instead of stick it out for the long haul.

Accessibility advocates have been hit exceptionally hard in the perpetual layoff era in tech.

I don’t think it’s a wild leap to connect that with the anti DEIA rhetoric

It also exposes how little businesses ever understood the ROI that comes from designing and building well.

People with IDD face higher risks in heat emergencies, but are often left out of planning. Let’s change that.

Bella's favorite glow-in-the-dark ball only costs $9 for a two-pack and it recharges even in LED lighting.

That snowballing spiral is so easy to happen, one bad fall can just set off a whole mental and physical health spiral

Or be part of it! (Literally what happened with my grandma. She fell on July 4, 2022 and fractured her patella and then two weeks later she was in the hospital for congestive heart failure, which had been building up for some time but was missed by her doctors up until then.)

It occurs fast, not gradually, it responds to treating the underlying depression, which actual dementia wouldn't, and is mostly reversible.

It's interesting to ask how much of what we think of as age-related memory and cognitive issues, is actually: depression in elderly people.

Or even symptoms of other physical illnesses! When my grandma was in acute congestive heart failure, it affected her kidneys' function and the buildup of toxins affected her cognition. Once they had the heart failure treated and her kidneys were behaving again, she was back to being pretty sharp.

Anyway it's just nice to see the Runaways in other stuff.

I was in the middle of a rewatch of Spider-Man (2017) but then I was like "Hmm Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man looks intriguing" and right there is Nico Minoru which. I love Runaways. I just do. I love Nico with her "one word used once and only once" power. And I love Gertrude and Old Lace.

Every time I encounter someone who is sure that shitty, massively harmful people have to have some sort of illness I'm really frustrated.

The need to make it more complicated than it is. When somehow all these people in the same social circumstances with tons of power behave in the same way.

The way folks desperately need the real-world villains to be somehow cognitively compromised because otherwise it means they themselves could be a real-world villain.

Just sanist ableism things.

I don't drink tea so I don't have teabags on hand and I also don't have nail glue. But I do break nails not infrequently so I might have to consider it.

Yeah, it's not an illness to be a shitty person. It's just being a shitty person.

The idea that neurotypical people can't be shitty is part of the whole problem.

12 hours ago 1 0 0 0

But this is how I learned that apparently people actually repair partially broken nails. I don't think it would have worked in my case (and even if it would have, it's not like I have the supplies on hand and I don't think my thumbnail would have held long enough to get to a manicurist anyway).

Broke my thumbnail pretty deep so. That sucks.

"Means testing disability right now is putting the cart before the horse. And when that happens in the disability sector, disabled people die. This is not hyperbole, this is the reality we face"

And the thing about illness and disease is the diagnosis should be to help the person being diagnosed.

Diagnosing people in order to label them for others' benefit? Is extremely iffy in the ethical department.

Diagnosing people for what we consider aberrant social behavior often does not age well.

There's honestly no need to frame it as any kind of disease or illness at all.

It's predictable behavioral conditioning—what happens when people are able to consistently use their power and privilege to escape negative consequences for their harmful actions.

They were so complementary. And yes DMo's playing time went down last season but I wouldn't look to last season to be a model but I really hope he gets treated well with the Texans because he deserves it.

I'm trying to hang in there and be, you know, trusting with Brad Holmes because he has been really good at drafting.

And also I understand that salary caps mean making tough decisions. So. I'm trying to breathe through it. But like.

I'm sad.

I already knew about Alex Anzalone Father of Two and I was sad about it but I'm extra sad about losing David Montgomery.

14 hours ago 0 0 1 0

I just needed some time to, you know, recover after last season.

And suddenly we've just given up on having the best running back duo in the league?

14 hours ago 1 0 1 0

What. The. Hell.

I stop paying attention to the Lions for like two months and we get rid of Alex Anzalone and David Montgomery?

We got rid of Knuckles?!

What the actual fuck.

They are still relitigating the last election instead of currently laying the groundwork for winning the next one.

And all of the candidates who need non-white supremacist, non-ableist, non-transphobic votes are very busy bashing the marginalized & disenfranchised.

That’s how you lose again.
