More air traffic over Boulder County? Data supports what residents suspect, but not everyone agrees on reason. At a crowded town hall event this month, Erie Mayor Andrew Moore asked the room: “Has anybody heard the airplane noise increase?” Raised hands and affirmative nods scattered across the audience.

Residents' suspicions are correct — there are a lot more planes flying in the Boulder County skies.

Why is that?
