After years of organizing, Gilbert Education Association members secured major salary increases — $6,000 for self-contained teachers in hard-to-fill roles and $3,000 for other hard-to-fill positions.
“There is not a single teacher in Arizona who would be happy with a raise if it meant the district couldn’t fix broken air conditioning in their classroom,” AEA President Marisol Garcia told @azmirror.com.

Eight years ago, Arizona voters rejected universal voucher expansion at the polls. Why did it become law anyway?
As AEA President Marisol Garcia explained to the U.S. Senate earlier this year, it was politicians and special interests who pushed for the out-of-control mess we're dealing with today.
If lawmakers appeal the court ruling, they will delay critical funding needed to fix aging buildings and keep schools safe and up-to-date. We urge Senate President Warren Petersen and lawmakers from both parties to reach a settlement for the sake of our students.
