I know you aren't going to want to hear this but the reason the system can deport Mahmoud Khalil and send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is that for years we've been executing factually innocent people like Marcellus Williams and sending legally innocent people to places like Riker's Island.
This is the center-left strategy worldwide. Attempt to beat your opposition by parroting and therefore crediting your opposition's claims. It's a proven failure morally and electorally:

We wouldn't be heading into the fascist abyss were it not for Justice Roberts and his Federalist Society colleagues. The Roberts may throw up yield to Trump revving the engine & risking going off road but that's cause Roberts is steadily steering us toward control by the billionaires.
lent is just me spending 40 days and 40 nights googling contents of sonic drinks to see if it counts as a soda or candy. the answer is always yes.
People change their minds. And it is, in fact, the job of political campaigns to change them.
the reality for democrats is that it’s not an either/or when it comes to decorum and fighting back — it’s an AND.
democrats have to hit hard and disrupt, while also “playing” the game for harm reduction.
neither side will win alone. there *has* to be a middle ground.
i really hope democrats leave the beltway to talk with and listen to voters.
