I LOVE Juniper! It has had a dramatic decline on the South Downs; in just one place in Sussex is it abundant - @sussexwildlife.bsky.social NR Levin Down. It is sculpted by the wind here into giant bonsai shapes. The UK gin industry now imports European juniper berries; its more abundant in Europe

Comic. [Two people on shore looking at body of water] PERSON 1: Hey, where’s that big island we were looking at this morning? PERSON 2 with short hair: Oh, it’s underwater. The ocean’s depth here goes up and down by like ten feet every day. PERSON 1: What? PERSON 2: It’s because the planet has a big moon orbiting near the surface. It causes weird gravity effects. PERSON 1: *What???* [caption] People here are used to them, but tides are one of the weirdest and most sci-fi elements of life on Earth.

dormouse on blackberries

The Blackberry or Bramble is a member of the rose family & makes a great habitat for many birds, insects & spiders - and it produces delicious, juicy, black berries in August & September. Hence CRUMBLE

A method to identify positive tipping points to accelerate low-carbon transitions and actions to trigger them - Sustainability Science Meeting the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to “well below 2 °C” requires a radical acceleration of action, as the global economy is decarbonising at least five times too slowly. Tipping point...

Positive tipping points for climate, like the UK phasing out coal, show how big steps toward a low-carbon future can suddenly become unstoppable.

Can we identify where the next tipping points could happen, and figure out how to help trigger them?
