Not much in the way of astrophotography lately, but did capture some rocket launches and capsule reentries ✨🚀

I really appreciate the response on this one, as you can see I went through some trials and tribulations to get the shot! 🔭

HDR composite of last week’s lunar eclipse.

Not my favorite work ever, but it is technically art, so i’m sharing regardless.

The moon glows red due to every sunset on earth being projected onto it as it passes through our shadow. A sliver of raw sunlight shows on the top left.

The exhaust plume of a Falcon 9 launch streaks across the twilight sky in colors of blue and red, illuminated by the sunlight due to its height. Venus shines brightly front and center, and Saturn watches from below.

Mars. Very blurry, but some details like polar ice caps can be made out.

Here is the full resolution close up of Mars:

The Full Wolf Moon takes up most of the frame, with the exception of a small red dot just above it. This is the planet Mars, shortly after reappearing from behind the moon. This is known as an occultation. Zooming in, Mars has some vaguely resolved details such as darker regions of soil and polar ice caps. And yes, the moon is out of focus. Don’t mention it.

From a Million Miles Away, NASA Camera Shows Moon Crossing Face of Earth - NASA A NASA camera aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured a unique view of the moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth

Render showing the moon crossing over the face of the earth, based on the image by NASA’s DSCVR EPIC camera. Zooming in, there is RGB offset on the moon. This is due to the camera taking pictures in the respective color channels with a considerable time gap between each image. When aligned in post, an offset becomes visible due to the moon moving throughout the imaging process.

mighty Titan is backlit by the sun, causing light to be dispersed around the back of the moon and creating a ring of light that is strongly visible. Saturn’s rings take the foreground, crossing almost directly in front of Titan. On the moon’s lower right limb, Enceladus glows lightly.

In this render, the sun rises over the Earth from a relatively high orbit point of view. The sunlight reflects reddish off the ocean and the terminator can be seen very clearly. Center right, the moon makes an appearance as a very thin crescent.
