The Crew was a curious game. However, if you haven't played it before, you can never play it.
It's a design issue. A lot of games are designed to have an end date. In essence, if you haven't played the game within the years it was available, you can never play it later or share the game with others.

In order for this negotiation to begin, the Initiative needs to collect enough signatures, in this case 1M. We are currently half way and there's 1 month left

People outside the games industry don't grasp that this is absolutely unheard of. Workers don't get royalties, and we definitely don't get performance bonuses. When we make a hit game we sometimes just get laid off

The tension and comparison between "indie devs" and "AAA devs" exists only in the minds of gamers (derogatory) and armchair devs who play the vicissitudes of the game industry as a hipster class warfare. Indie devs and AAA devs are often only separated by career decisions and the fortunes of fate.

Indie game dev tip: make sure you have low end devices to test your game on.

I just tested on my crappy old Microsoft surface again and realized the recent shaders I wrote plummet the fps from 60 to 25.

Works perfectly fine on a normal computer though.

Test on as many low end devices as possible!

Remember that "target audience" is not just age + gender. That could be useful for buying ad space but not useful for designing the game.
Rather think of how the player approaches all games, how much time per session they spend, how do they like their coffee, and many other similar questions.

Not only would 1000xRESIST not exist without arts funding, we as artists who practiced for YEARS, trying to understand ourselves and our mediums would not exist without arts funding.
