Hello to you!

Please note the belief requirements point. The OfS set out its view last summer, in a paper on free speech, stating it would be improper to ask for evidence of a commitment to EDI in hiring or promotions processes. This would discriminate against those opposed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

In my own personal opinion the crisis in universities is: the student loan scandal, fees, debt, high rents, poor quality housing, high transport costs, lack of flexible work, low wages, long waiting lists for counselling, lack of specialist support equipment for students, mass staffing cuts.

Her office said the Office for Students (OfS), which regulates universities, had received reports of speakers and lecturers being harassed and blocked for holding gender-critical or religious views, of foreign interference suppressing academic freedoms, and of ideological belief requirements featuring in job advertisements.

The OfS will be able to use the new complaints scheme from September. From April, it will be able to fine universities the greater of £500,000 or 2 per cent of their income, which would amount to millions of pounds for large institutions, for breaches under the Freedom of Speech Act. Ultimately, universities could be deregistered for egregious cases.

Bridget Phillipson will introduce new laws to make it possible for Universities to be fined millions of pounds if they don't silence students who protest bigots invited onto their campuses. It's like the Tories never left office.

I don't understand economics, there was a discussion just now on Today programme & everyone was agreeing that "people's pay is rising higher than house prices so there's affordability in the market". What???!! Whose pay is rising? How are houses affordable? Here in Bristol houses are not affordable.

Oh god yes, ticks much worse here in UK too. I grew up in v rural Scotland playing about in woods, bracken, hills all day & I honestly never saw a tick. Here in Bristol, Southwest UK, go on a walk in the nearest park & come back with ticks!!

Yes the warming weather everywhere is going to make fleas worse, without a good winter to kill them off. Thanks climate change!! Also, 10 cats!!! Omg, living the dream.

Getting fleas in the house, being bitten, & having to vacuum multiple times a day & spray with spray that's so bad you have to keep your pets & yourself out of the house for hours is much worse.

I know cat parents who keep a very close eye & brush cats daily & can tell if they have fleas & then they treat. I think that's great, I don't feel comfortable putting these chemicals on my cats either really but working & having 2 children & v busy life I just cannot do that.

Someone is on the radio talking about the harms of chemicals & saying you shouldn't flea treat your pets until they get fleas!!! What on earth. If pets get fleas, by the time you notice, they are in the house, then you can end up having to use harmful chemicals sprayed all around your house.

We've now raised £50,000.

Anything you can spare, will go towards challenging this Labour Government and taking the fight to Reform.

And most importantly - to creating the hopeful alternative.

"The rise of extreme wealth is one of the clearest signs of this imbalance. In 1987, billionaires held wealth equal to 3% of global GDP. Today this tiny elite, just 0.0001% of the world population, owns the equivalent of *16%* of world GDP in wealth."

I've just read Octavia Butler "The Parable of the Sower" & "Parable of the Talents", I've skimmed these before in an undergrad way, but so glad to now take time & read them properly. Bleak, hard reading but inspired. Written for our times, literally, was set in the 2020s & on.

Everyone should listen to this, & think about what "British values" really are, or could be, what it could look like to be proud of your country, to be the safe & secure & beautiful place ppl fled to find. We should be proud of the welcome we can give, we can be better www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Does competition darts take into account how long people have been playing & use this as a way to bar people for unfair advantage? Presumably some women competitors may have been playing for longer than some men. If years of experience is used to bar trans women then it should be applied to all?

1 week ago 6 0 0 0

The fact that pubs & social clubs (are there many of these still around?) where darts are played have been male dominated & that darts has been male dominated (apparently slowly changing) is not the fault of trans women. Sexism in pubs & sports won't be solved by attacking trans women.
