Done and Dusted? Trump’s Portrayal of the War in Iran Collides With Reality.

He is breathtakingly stupid. I remain astounded that Americans elected this dope.

What a surprise. The sooner we wean ourselves from fossil fuels, the sooner we have more money in our pockets and a better environment. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

‘My life has become a rollercoaster’: Francesca Albanese on death threats, danger and dread after accusing Israel of genocide When the UN special rapporteur published her report Anatomy of a Genocide in March 2024, she was lionised by some and demonised by the Trump government. She describes what happened next

This is what happens when you criticize Israel. And this is why the Excited States is far too powerful. No such thing as free speech there.

The Wild Claims of Jeff Rath, Separatist Firebrand | The Tyee The free-swinging Alberta Prosperity Project leader is caught on video spouting conspiracy theories and profanities.

This guy is another Trump. Maybe dumber, if that's possible. The Wild Claims of Jeff Rath, Separatist Firebrand via @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2026/01...

#5. This is an ongoing "leadership review", in effect. The tendency now is to maintain party discipline and solidarity which I believe is a mistake. The Liberals have been effective in letting leaders who have passed their prime know that they should leave. You need independent minded MPs for that

#4. Contrast this with the USA, where the President can browbeat the Reps and the Senate into obedience by threatening to "primary" them. If Carney were as bad as Trump, his MPs would by now have staged a backroom coup or a visible coup by crossing the floor. This is very important Rachel.

#3. The importance of this, the thing I think should be preserved, was the independence of individual MPs. If the leader pissed enough off, they could "cross" and end the government. This gave individual MPs power to REPRESENT THEIR CONSTITUENTS first and foremost. Contrast this with the USA (#4)

#2. This person would find MPs who were like-minded to what that person wanted to accomplish. If that person thought they had enough support, they would tell the monarch they could form a government. The criteria was "can you pass a budget". Defeat on a budget was "non-confidence". (#3 cntd)

Rachel, have to disagree on floor crossing. I was Parliamentary Counsel in Alberta. Let me try to persuade you. In the early British system, which we inherited, there were no parties. After an election, the King or Queen would ask someone who had followers, to form a government. (#1)

I was Parliamentary Council at the Alberta Legislature for 5 years in the 1990's. I agree: I saw a lot of apolitical work done on both sides to make legislation better for the people of Alberta. But both sides have to be willing. I dont think Smith's ACP is willing.

The Fallout from Reporting on White Nationalism in Canada | The Tyee Journalist Rachel Gilmore published an investigation in The Tyee. The men she unmasked showed up to intimidate her in person.

Canada could do without these dirtbags. But keep in mind that the main goal of Alberta separatists is to have their own Department of Immigration AND DEPORTATION (how very MAGA).

Did Israel attack Lebanon to spoil Iran war ceasefire? Israel claims attacks on densely populated residential areas that killed more than 200 people were aimed at Hezbollah

Of course it did. Israel wants Iran (Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon, etc, etc) destroyed so it can dominate the Middle East. Israel has no problem with genocide. They dont have enough troops to do Iran so they want to use American troops to achieve their goals. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/a...

If Dem leaders had been calling for impeachment and filing articles of impeachment and demanding to know why their GOP colleagues refuse to join them in impeaching and removing him—as they should have this entire term—the public would be better prepared for the urgency and necessity of it right now.

Your political system failed massively.

Help me out here, Americans. I’ve heard so much about your system of checks and balances; how wise your Founding Fathers were; how amazing your political system is. How the hell was Trump able to hijack the whole thing? ICE. Tariffs. War. The White House. The pardons. 🇨🇦
