Anything I’ve learned about Mr. Beast has been against my will and I hope this lawsuit helps make him disappear. Peace to the victims.

Glad for the folks who made this getting to see their work released instead of vaulted forever or even trashed. It looks fun!

Art Doodle, Witch Hat Atelier - Beldaruit reclined in his bed surrounded by work and tea, while Riliphin braids his hair, both smile softly, enjoying their calm afternoon. Beldaruit has a dragon-like illusion curled up on his neck like a heated pillow.
This old man has stolen my heart 🤍 Welcome Witch Hat Atelier Era

Alt National Park Service: The National Science Foundation which funds a quarter of all basic scientific research in the country is being dismantled. Anonymous commenter: Thank you AltNPS. You always inform where others won't.
The Alt National Park Service links to an article in The Hill, titled "National Science Foundation's future in limbo as Trump eyes cuts."
It's interesting and frustrating that even when AltNPS bothers to link to an actual source, there are plenty of people who give credit to AltNPS, instead of to their source.
It shows how embedded they are in their audience's media landscape. To many people, AltNPS is a primary source of news.

Also 9/10 times, folks who are like, "If nothing changes, I'll make [fanwork] myself" are all flash and no substance. Rarely do they ever actually do anything. I've written plenty when there's nothing I like. People like us exist. We're just rarely people I see posting that.
I just find it interesting that mangaka name recognition and studio popularity (and also it's a very good adaptation) is not doing much for this in re: fic creation. It's doing SOMETHING, and likely will do more as time passes, but it pales in comparison to other anime adaptations this year.
Back when I first got into the manga, there was like 1 person sharing manga caps on tumblr, maybe 2 fanart pieces, an even smaller handful of fics on Ao3, and really most fandom was on reddit 🙃. Seeing the flood on multiple socmeds now is great.
Funnily enough, we're in week 3/4 of an adaptation of something by one of the most well-known mangaka in existence, and it's barely made a dent in terms of fanfics (at least on Ao3, which is not everything). I'm seeing a lot more fanart and folks chatting about the series, though, which is nice!
5 of my fandoms this year were light novels and/or manga that got anime adaptations. Only 1 already had a sizeable Ao3 presence pre-anime. The other 4 (all of which I've written for) are relatively small, and only 1 of those had much of a size bump, and it's the most well-known one.
That's part of why these folks get called tourists. They're not here to join in. They're here to sight-see and they'll be gone quickly, too. And they tend to blame the "lack" of content for it. Oh how dare you not meet their precious expectations with the appropriate fic # and trough of fanart.
Folks view fandom as some Other Thing born by forces incomprehensible, rather than communities of people doing things. There is no single way to participate in fandom. But people who whine like that are not doing anything. They just sound dismissive towards existing community who actually do things.
There's no self-reflection, either. "There are only [number] of fics! That's not enough!" The person in this instance does not write anything themselves or encourage those who do. They do not make fanart or support fanartists. Just nothing. And folks wonder why some fandoms stay small.
Folks get so mad that fandoms they don't support are small.
