The task of de-Trumpification of science and public health will take a generation and a "Marshall Plan" to rebuild. Without a bold, expansive vision to guide us, there is no coming back. Small-bore, poll-tested versions of the future will not help us. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

I have a position open for a Research Associate - Postbac opportunity.
For those with curiosity and tenacity, a chance to delve deeply into a project, learn new techniques, and publish papers, all in a friendly environment.
Suited for recent college (BS) grads with prior relevant experience.
"The average taxpayer in 2025 paid: $4,049 for weapons and war, vs. $2,492 for Medicaid, which provided health insurance to 68.5 million Americans in 2025 — about one in five Americans."
the basic theory of DOGE was that if powerful people said it was fine it didn’t matter what the law said.
I think proving that theory wrong is worth significant effort
Traditionally, number of grad school applicants.
BUT this is the lever the state is using to PUNISH US.
And the administration of the UofU would rather enrich themselves than try to make the U a better place for everyone to go to college.
Utah has cultural reasons that a four year grad rate might be lower than their peers. Missions are the classic example (BYU’s rate is 25%); a ton of students work full time; i suspect there’s a higher percentage of the population that are married and have kids, etc.
Westminster currently has the highest four-year graduation rate of any college or university in the state. Among its students, 52% graduate in that standard timeframe. The next closest school is the University of Utah at 37%.
yeesh
this state has a PROBLEM with four year graduation rate…57% is the highest?! And the U (37%) is next?!?!?
Good thing firing a bunch of lower level admin, not replacing retiring faculty and hiring a bunch of SuperDeans will fix this!

Oh you mean the hateful bigot legislator is a horrible person outside the capitol too? Who’d have thought 🙄

For the cost of one Harvard Professor of the Constitution Only Applies to White People, you could endow 10 professorships of any less commonly taught language at any university in the USA
OpenAI: We’re burning money like the Joker. A miracle needs to happen for us to turn a profit
Microsoft: Please please use our AI systems, we’re teetering on the edge here
Anthropic: I wonder what’ll kill us first: lawsuits, regulations or model collapse
Media and universities: AI is here to stay

Today in “Presidentialism was a grave mistake”
The legislative solution is impeachment, not a commission to do the Principal Officers of the Executive Departments’ job for them.
In a normal functioning democracy, there would just be a simple majority no confidence vote & we’d be done already.
I am also “too controversial to have an athleisure line”
The push for institutional neutrality, like the so-called “free-speech crisis,” was always a right wing ploy to get universities to stop pointing out obvious things like “fascists are ascendant” and “racism is bad.”
It is sad that so many university “leaders” took the bait.
Super Bowl LX win probability chart that shows the Seahawks always being ahead
This is the only chart you need to be looking at this morning.
What I like best about the Artemis II photos is that it was taken by actual humans. An actual person had to frame it and manually adjust settings. It's their own artistic rendition of what they thought looked best at the time, something no probe, rover or unmanned spacecraft can take. it's art
“it’s time for healing” gtfoh we can heal when they’re all in jail
@nateforutah.bsky.social please continue being a “loose cannon”
I don’t think I’ll be surprised, but I will be very disappointed if milquetoast-ass actually-a-republican Ben McAdams wins this seat because of “unity”
unite against the fucking fascists and their fucking enablers!
THEYRE BUILDING COMCENTRATION CAMPS KATHLEEN. THE TIME FOR “UNITY” IS WAY WAY GONE.

A very busy lab bench with dozens of primers and eppendorf tubes. Clearly this person is clonin’ up a storm!

Two panel comic. Panel 1: a digital kiosk at the entrance of a parking garage with a dispensed ticket. The screen display reads: PLEASE TAKE TICKET BELOW. Panel 2: a T-Rex is sticking its little arm out the window of its partially opened car door, trying to reach the ticket.

I’d simply not hit the mines, but I’m guess I’m built different.
Americans like their morally righteous heroes when they are safely dead and no longer a threat to existing power structures.
When we take back power, I do not want unity or healing, I want revenge.
I also don't want a lecture on "but that's just like Trump, he wanted revenge." He was wrong, we are right. It's different. Get a moral compass.
Revenge or sit down. Call it "justice" if you must, it's that too.
"Why are the people we had expelled, deported, and arrested not protesting on campuses?" - they asked, sincerely and stupidly.
