It's just as simple as that. Even now, calling it "Universal Healthcare" or "Medicare for All" means that Black and Brown people would also get it, and they can't have THAT, even if they want it themselves.

The Business of Black Women: Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman Podcast Episode · Vibe Check · March 20 · 47m

“A lot of times people ask, Why don't we have free healthcare? Why is this like this?' And I'm like, somebody just didn't want Black people to have access to those services. And in trying to make things harder for Black folks, you also were collateral damage.” — @itsafronomics.blacksky.app

I may have a stroke.

Someone said protests don’t belong in church and it took every ounce of self-censure within me not to say “Deborah you are literally a Protestant.”

A PROTESTant.

I assume they think Luther was nailing Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to the door.

I shouldn't be shocked, but I'm still always brought up short to realize how many people think "civility" means "white people speaking in relatively calm voices" no matter what vile shit they say.

The collapse of the trad wife and blue collar wife who works from home model should be interesting for republicans. This isn’t Avon money anymore. A lot of of the female economy has kept middle class households afloat. But we will see 🤷🏾‍♀️

We built a calculator that doesn't work, but don't worry, it's also a plagiarism machine that will tell you to kill yourself. It runs on the world's oceans and costs 10 trillion dollars.

I’ve been known to get out of taxis and Ubers that have that tv screen on the seat, blaring dumb gambling ads at you. How dare you??

And I absolutely choose gas stations based on if they have TVs playing on the pump.

We'll see whether I can stick it out to the end, but I'm remote attending the CHC meeting on 17 Story St. Devs propose to relocate & preserve the historic Harriet Jacobs House on the same site, and demolish a 3-story building, to build a hotel and 50 apartments. Harvard Sq Conservation District.

Preferring nonfiction, I rarely read fiction - let alone historical fiction. But...I really, really enjoyed Last Night at the Telegraph Club, a historical novel geared toward young adult readers. Set in 1950s San Francisco, it centers a Chinese American teenage girl discovering her queerness. #books

Absolutely.
Also we did something called “Mousercise” (the Disney kid-friendly Jazzercise) in elementary school.

I joined band as soon as I could so I didn’t have to go to P.E., which was unhelpful anyway.

WorldCat and ArchiveGrid aren’t perfect, but they can help you get started or move you along when you get stuck.

May I also recommend your friendly neighborhood librarian or archivist.

*And be nice to them. We’re having A Time right now.

Historian friends: tell me about your favorite research & writing tools.

As a bonus, would love to know where you learned how to use them & if you'd be interested in sharing your knowledge w/ others.

Typewritten class directives recorded by a student who took a course with artist Corita Kent in the 1960s at Immaculate Heart:

"Keep a journal—fill it with everything you come in contact with—be very aware—of shapes, everything, because letters are shapes."

"Make a list of 100 signs you read today. Look and jot down the message that it gives you."

From the Papers of Corita, Schlesinger Library, Harvard Radcliffe Institute

And I know the right answer is status. You’re buying them to improve your status when people who will come to your house. What I’m confused about is if you don’t read them the people who come into your house don’t read either. who are you impressing?
